Frozen Fury XXVI: Kings vs Avalanche - How Popular?
My buddies and are are heading down to Vegas in October and the Kings are playing the Avalanche for a pre-season game at the MGM. The ticket prices are ridiculous for a preseason game ($45 to $325).
Any guidance out there on how popular this event is (apparently popular enough to happen 15 times already) and if we'd be able to pick up tix cheaper via a reseller that weekend. Ticketmaster is showing limited availability while a few resellers are showing ok availability currently.
TIA

Probably not. I've paid regular season reseller prices to get last-minute tix from scalpers (albeit for very good seats). I haven't gone in a couple years, but it's always packed - basically an LA home game since everyone from LA can drive up, and there's decent support from Colorado's fans as well.
One possibility is that if you have any friends who are regular gamblers with mLife, they can check if their hosts can get tickets.

Hmm, that's an idea. We don't play huge dollars but part of the reason we're heading down is because my buddy's play gets him free nights marketing offers. Might try that route. Thx.

I agree with gengar. The game routinely "sells out", however, there are usually large blocks of empty seats. During the week before the game, there are several hockey themed events around the MGM property also. Poker tournaments, etc.

I believe it usually sells out. Last year, I think I read it did sell out. If you are receiving free rooms, perhaps call the casino host and ask about "comp" tickets. If you have enough "play" to receive free rooms, food, etc. - than concerts, shows and this event is not out of the question.
Many other hotels, also block seats to events like this - to lure "high rollers" in for certain weekends. I looked and there are still seats available for the lowest prices (as well as the highest, and almost every price point).
LAS hotel/casinos bring people in for all kinds of big events - NASCAR, Rodeo Finals, Boxing, Concerts, EDC, Etc, etc. This is not a big event.
The MGM arena can hold 16,800 people. Less for hockey.
Safe travels and enjoy your stay in my "fair" city of LAS!
