Fashion Outlet - Worth It?
Should I spend half a day driving there and shopping?
Can you really get "good" deals there? Or is it just junk?
Basically, is it worth it?

Seconded, skip it unless there is something specific you need down there. That's a long haul from the strip and there is not much else there. If you are looking for good deals, you will find much better bargains on the internet from your home.
If you are more interested in the "outlet shopping experience" I would recommend the Las Vegas Premium Outlets instead. They have two malls in the LV area (one north and one south). I prefer the north one because they have a Makino Sushi buffet there. But both of them are much closer to the strip and have a good collection of stores.

Since the OP appears to be a traveler to the US, some time spent at an outlet might be worthwhile. I second the recommendation for Premium Outlet instead of the Fashion Outlet. Go to the north location On Grand Central Parkway.

It's probably a good idea to spin through a regular mall before going there to know what stuff costs "regularly". While 10+ years ago, outlet malls were know for screaming deals, nowadays, they often have stuff that is priced about the same as a normal retail store.

If you're interested in electronics and computer goods, then you might want to consider a stop at Fry's Electronics. There's a bus stop nearby for the SDX bus that goes up and down the strip. This is conveniently on the way to the Premium Outlets (South).

Especially with the exchange rate these days.... Dollars are worth less and less, so to exchange dollars for iPhones or clothes or laptops is quite a bargain.
So back to the OP: Try LVPO North, Walmart, and Fry's. I might also suggest that you swing by a Costco if you are feeling adventurous. Costco is membership-only, but if you go to the membership desk they will probably give you a free day pass just for asking.

I think Primm is worht a drive and I would not consider it "junk". It is a pretty typical outlet mall but if you are not from the US it has some pretty decent shops and it really isnt that far depending on where you are staying. You can hit Fry's on your way even if you need to get some electronics. I think the Norht Premium location is a good option as well. I actually found the South location to be a bit of a dump compared to the Primm location although I think it has more shops but Primm is where we prefer to go as it just seems nicer.

Just a note for future reference - Primm, and the Fashion Outlet mall, essentially straddle the Nevada-California border (legally on the Nevada side, so sales tax rate is lower).
The location is a little less than 40 miles from the Strip, not a half-day's drive.

Yep, Primm is really not worthwhile anymore. Hitting the north Premium Outlet is good enough. If one wants to cover all their shopping needs then the second location will suffice without having to drive the 40 miles to Primm.

Primm has a Last Call Neiman Marcus, a Williams-Sonoma outlet and a Tod's outlet. Otherwise, the rest is available at Premium Outlets north of the Strip. The south location is not as nice although there is a Saks Off Fifth outlet in the adjacent plaza.
I would look at the store directory and decide which stores you are interested in seeing. Primm is about an hour's drive...there is a shuttle also from the strip.

I remember when "outlet mall" conveyed the impression that you were getting special discounts, direct from factory (or, in the case of some stores like Nordstrom Rack, stuff from the main stores sent over to sell at a discount). Not always so. If it's impotant that the items you get have the labels of certain designers, even though they're likely made in the same overseas sweatshops at other clothes, outlets can be worthwhile. My wife and I are in Brazil and buy clothes and other items when in the States, but for clothes, shoes and cosmetics, she prefers Macy's, which has some excellent sales all the time, and where you can get, by showing proof of overseas residency, a card good for 10% on almost everything (need to ask when buying sale items). We also shop for shoes at various mall discount shoe stores. She also often hits Nordstrom Rack and Burlington Coat Factory (not just coats). And she also usually picks up a few basic clothing items, such as socks and underwear (especially for relatives), when we are at Costco (membership store).
The Pimm stores are perhaps worth a stop if you're driving by from L.A. (you can visit the casino that has, or at least had, the car in which Bonnie and Clyde were killed), but otherwise staying in town will probably suffice.
