Great story...we were moving from our apartment to our new house on December 1st, so everything was a mess on Thanksgiving and thought, "Oh, what the hell, let's do a buffet..."
We drove to our local casino, lots of parking spaces - good sign.
Went into the casino and few people playing machines - another good sign.
Got to the buffet...the line was ridiculous! It seems that every car in the fairly empty parking lot was only from people who came to eat! We were told there was over a two hour wait to get in!
We ate Thanksgiving dinner at Fatburger (a decent local burger chain here.)
The point of that story is, you might not be the only one who thinks about going out to dinner on Thanksgiving - seems quite a few people don't want to cook at home that day and expect even some locals to be joining in the fun!
If you are doing a "nice restaurant", I would most certainly suggest making reservations. If you want to do a nice buffet, pack a lunch while standing in line. It might be different at the larger, Strip hotel/casinos, but I can tell ya that in the locals' casinos, never even try to get in Thanksgiving (or Mother's Day, or Father's Day either...)
