KE IAD international concourse

My mother will be flying out of IAD (IAD-ICN, nonstop KE J Class) in couple of weeks. This is the first international flight which she takes and speaks no English at all. I am little bit worried whether she can reach the proper concourse and gate.

- It looks like KE departs from B concourse, then is it walkable from security check point? so she doesn't have to take bus? It is not very clear from map.

- If I took domestic flight from IAD, can I take her to the international gate?

Thank you.

Yes, it is possible to walk from the security check point to the B concourse, which is where Korean Air departs from. It is a long walk, however, even with the moving walkways. It is also possible to take one of the mobile lounges from the main terminal to the B concourse, which may be less tiring.

Yes, if you were taking a domestic flight, you could get to any gate in the entire airport. There is no distinction between international and domestic gates for departing flights. Rather than buying a ticket, however, you could probably request a gate pass from Korean Air at check-in saying that you would like to escort your mother to the gate. You could call them ahead of time to make sure that would be possible, but it most likely will be.

As CO777LR notes, it's a somewhat long walk but not confusing. After passing through security your mom can either get onto one of the mobile lounges or walk to the left and go down the escalators, follow the moving walkways, then go up another set of escalators. I seem to recall that KE usually uses something like gate B32 or B34. If your mom is Korean, there will be plenty of other Korean passengers who could help her find the gate or she could just follow them.
