Intl. transfer at ICN to Korean Air - no need to pass through immigration?

Flying from Japan to SFO, with transit through ICN. Japan to ICN will be on an LCC, then ICN to SFO on Korean Airlines. Two separate tickets. No check-in baggage. Will I be able to check-in to my Korean Air flight in the transit area or will I need to go through immigration? Same question for return from SFO to Japan.

No immigration. Just transit security.

They have a ton of transfer desks, you can pick up your new ticket there.

On the return transferring to LCC for Japan you will have to exit to landsise as LCCs don't have transit desks.

Ah, thanks! Need to make sure I've got extra time for that coming back.
