STPC transit hotel in ICN

Hi all,

I am planning to fly from Sydney to Paris in May and I found great fare which is AUD 1234. The route is SYD-ICN (overnight transit)-CDG // MAD- ICN- SYD.

The fare is " Q " fare and I am wondering if I can get a free transit hotel from Korean air for the overnight stay on the way to Paris.

I have checked the KE website but I could not find any info.

If someone can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help in advance!!

I think you need to contact the KE service centre to request the layover hotel. Provided you are travelling on a non-award fare, they should comply.

I believe they will put you in the Incheon Grand Hyatt for the night, but in the older East Tower. Still, it is free and I think you get meals included.

Hope you get it, let us know how it went.

I have an upcomming flight with a 18 hour layover in december, but they told me December 8-31 the "hotel" service is not available.

Ok, here's the gist...
- The free layover is available to most booking classes, but not the cheapest Economy N, T return tickets, or mileage tickets
- You must take the next available flight from Seoul,
- Must be booked in advance through Korean's call centre. They email you confirmation with arrival instructions, but won't tell you which hotel until you get to arrivals desk in Incheon airport
- Coach transfers, dinner, bed & breakfast included, drinks at own expense
- Min. 3 star hotel for Economy Class, luxury hotel for First & Business. Equates to likes of Best Western for Economy, Hyatt for Business, though friends of mine flew Economy and stayed in older wing of the Hyatt(!), last trip back from SYD I flew Business and stayed in new wing, impressive! Sometimes they bus you across the bridge to Incheon City.
- Some countries embargo the layover hotel during peak travel periods, BUT it seems the UK do not...
Quite a few Brits/Aussies/Kiwis on journey up from AU/NZ to Europe
- If you change your flights, you need to rebook the hotel, it's not automatic
Hopefully of use... they're building a casino at Incheon, hope that doesn't mean they stop this layover programe...

One more question.....

If the first flight available ICN-CDG on a SYD-ICN-CDG itin is a KE codeshare on AF... does STPC still apply?...

Or is it KE to first available KE....which is a longer layover?

Believe codeshares are not applicable, so you'd have to use the Korean flight to Paris.

OK...fwiw....a little more info..

In GENERAL codeshares are not eligible for STPC.....but there are exceptions.

To Europe: STPC is available (subject to next flight and other usual rules) to/from
CDG on KE 5901/2
AMS on KE 5925/6
PRG on KE 5935/6

Anyone knows if STPC is available for flights booked on miles (O class)? The shortest possible connection for this flight is 23 hours... .
KE have already taken 2 weeks to give me a yes/no answer. None given to date.
Thanks!

Does KE provide a transit hotel if you connecting flight in ICN arrives in the late afternoon to evening and your next flight will be the next day in the Morning? Given the flight is on KE metal, from US to Southeast asia, on Economy?

They only offer the hotel on paid tickets for Korean Air flights that do not have a connection available on the same day. You must be forced to stay overnight for the next Korean Air metal flight. You cannot choose the long layover if something earlier is available and get a free hotel.

STPC @ICN

Hi
I have a flight to CTS via ICN , the flight from Rome to CTS rtn is operated by KE but the ticket was issued by Alitalia . Do you know if qualifies gor STPC. they list of exclusions appears extensive and confusing.
thanks
