I love the ice cream fish bread, and potato hot dog!

For real Korean food, you cannot go wrong with mandu and Yangyeum chicken, as well as some Tteokbokki.

Makgeolli!!!1111

IMO, Mandu isn't really Korean lol... >.>

Also, I never got the concept of eating noodles in an icy broth. I'll stick to delicious tang and jjigae.

Mul-naengmyeon 물냉면 or cold water noodles with ice cubes are a godsend in the extreme summer months in Korea. Many restaurants also serve them with large dumplings which makes for a great combination. Check some restaurants that sell the North Korean version of the dish which is absolutely delicious. Remember, if there is a line out the front door, it is probably worth it.

My GF went crazy over the fish-shaped pancakes because she thought it was super cute... and she doesn't like much spice.

I loved the sundae at Gwangjang as well as the tteokboki.

What do people think of Chapdolseuk?

Also, when I'm at work in London, I often visit this Korean fast food chain called Kimchee. What do you think of their menu? Seeing as it's fast food in London (at a good price), is the offering any good?

Why do Scandinavian's swim in icy water?
Same reason Koreans eat cold noodles in winter.

boonguhbbang (붕어빵) are wonderful street food treats, especially when it starts to get cold. i'm surprised that your GF would think they're spicy, since it's just pastry dough filled with sweet red bean paste.

no one actually likes beondaegi; they just eat it out of nostalgia.

Haha true that. It's still awesome though. Just has to be at the right moment.

That's what this thread needs... some pictures. A friend sent me a link to this blog. Some very nice food pictures here...

I had emailed my friend regarding a dish I tried here in SoCal, called 오삼불고기/Osam Bulgogi, which is like 오징어볶음/Ojingeo bokkeum/spicy sauteed squid made with added pork belly. It's really good. Never had it in Korea, but my friend responded with this link. Doesn't it look good?

You can see the source at the bottom of the post:

I believe I will make a point of trying this when I'm in Seoul next time.

If you're ever in Hongdae, there's a jokbal place that you gotta try! Makgeolli + that = heaven.

I'll post some pics from my trip (more are available in my blog):

Hotteok

Soondae

Bulgogi madness! MMM.

Temple food

Naengmyeon

Seolleongtang

Where I had all my post-hangover meals. Mmmm.
