Well, some airlines have 2-5-2 in their 777's, but unless AF/KLM is leasing on from somewhere, it does seem that the KLM staff you spoke is wrong

It is.

Question

This is not exactly a 'seating' question but I think this is the best thread for it, so here goes:

Has anyone been on one of KLM's new ERJ (Embraer 190), and/or can anyone tell me what the overhead luggage bins are like?

On other (smaller) Embraers, the bins have a very small vertical dimension and my wheelie-case has to be gate-checked. But I like to put my laptop in the case and the gate-check handlers aren't always that gentle! (I'll be in the 'free newspaper'/'weird snack' section, so can I perhaps store the case in the closet?)

Any info much appreciated.

EDIT: I think I've answered my own question, here: http://www.embraercommercialjets.com...=cross_section

Good seats in coach on the MD11

I'm flying AMS-YYZ in October on an MD11. Which seats in coach provide the maximum legroom at no extra cost. Seatguru and Seatexpert seem to provide differing information whether the aisle seats on the sides of the aircraft are better than those in the middle. Has anyone had any experience?

I have used the 190 several times from Colombia into Panama, and although most other 190 operators state 24x16x10 inches, trust me,you can fit bigger, I have seen Colombians squeeze all kinds of luggage into those bins.I don't know the config of the KLM metal, but on Copa, row 5 has more legroom but smaller luggage bins
Enjoy your trip

Thanks, kaminski, but ...

KLM AMS to SFO

We are scheduled to fly from AMS to SFO in late September 2009 and will be flying World Class Business. We are scheduled to be in row 4 on the 747. Has anyone flown this recently, how are the seats, potv etc?

Arrow

I just flew on the SkyTeam livery 77W (PH-BVD). Row 10 only has the middle seats (D, E, F, G); on the sides row 9 is followed by row 11.

11 H,J,K are awful seats and should be avoided at all costs. Presumably the same is true for 11A,B,C. 11H gets bumped a lot. The screen is in the armrest and is smaller. The screens for seats 11J and 11K are horribly misaligned.

The seats on row 9 looked considerably wider.

I just flew the KLM 747 from AMS to JFK. We opted for seats in row 4. My wife and I had the two centre seats and my son by the window. They are excellent seats with plenty of space and easy access.
