Retrofit new WBC routes (B744)

Anybody knows when and where the retrofitted 747's fly to?

The first is already finished and was seen by many KLM'ers during Peter Hartman is farewell last week. Curious to know where it goes to these days I'm flying CUR somewhere in the upcoming weeks...

I don't think individual aircraft are dedicated to any on destination or route - so it could turn up anywhere that that type of 747 is scheduled.

True, but isn't there a way to know which aircraft is designated for a specific route on a specific date?! I know it can always shift, but still. I saw this when the did the retrofit for Delta. There is a site maybe..

If you have the rego and do a Google search, you should find several sites that will list where it's been in the last few days.

I don't know how soon in advance KLM schedules specific aircraft for specific flights, but I don't think that information will be available on any public website. If you check www.schiphol.nl they add the registration for each flight as soon as that information is made available to the airport operator, though this is likely only on the day of travel.

Yes, but given that the new WBC has fewer seats than the old, it would make sense for them to schedule the refurbished aircraft on a limited number of routes initially.

It turns out that their deployment is scheduled in adavance. So it's a bit less seat roulette than feared. You can find out when making fake bookings without completing payment if you get the new or the old cabin.

Check out this thread.

It seems CUR will be the first to have it scheduled in advance, starting in October.

This is when all aircrafts on that route will fly the new WBC. I'm looking to see when the newly refurbished 747 go into service. For which the first one should be going into play any day now

There used to be a way to find out by aircraft no when the where being refurbished and when they would fly and where to.

I do the dummy booking, but I thought there was a more easy way.,

I'm aware of this, that's why I mentioned the "Scheduled in advance" part.

KLM usualy only schedules a specific plane to a flight about one day in advance, though it would make sense to have it scheduled to specific flights already, due to the different seat counts.

Have you found flights with the new configuration before October, whilst making dummy bookings?

As there are fewer seats in the new WBC they will have to use the fitted planes at first on routes that are NEVER full in WBC. Surely that will be their logic.

Ok, so far I've found out that it's PH-THX which should be the first 747 to be refurbished and back in rotation. You can check via schiphol.nl if it's stated on your flight, but that's only possible 24 hours in advance.

To bad KLM doesn't share more info about this, since a lot more people will be interested....I think

Or maybe it's just me

All KL full-pax/combi 747s have registrations beginning with PH-BF (B for Boeing and F for Four). The third letter is often (but not always) also the first letter in the aircraft's name, e.g. PH-BFH "Hong Kong". The cargo 747ERFs have registrations beginning PH-BC (guess what the C stands for).

The aircraft is PH-BFB. It was changed to PH-THX for Peter Hartman's farewell reception. Mods are complete and the aircraft is now being certified. I believe it is scheduled to return to service next week.

Aah . . . I see.

So PH-THX stands for "Peter Hartman Thanks"? How creative!
