Don't hold your breath. On a paid UG on KL, I got miles for the original fare class. When I wrote DL about it and point out it was a PAID UG, I got a nasty email back from them.

Any idea why the auction process doesn't allow bids for children? I have 2 kids in a party of 4 who I would at least like to register in the auction process (with little or no expectation that I will have a winning bid!).

Just been presented with an offer in my MMB for an upcoming biz booking from that excellent Tokyo sale last year.

KLM is letting me offer a bid to upgrade from WBC to, wait for it.... WBC.

Same thing here. For pax that already have a wbc ticket it also provides the opportunity to bid for wbc.. Expect this to be fixed soon though...

Question Economy Comfort and Bid for Upgrade

BTW, what happens to an economy comfort premium fee, when you bid for an upgrade and win the bid?

can you reclaim the price for reserving the economy comfort seat?

Yes, if you win you can reclaim the price you paid for your EC/pref./EER seat.

I don't think so. Your change is voluntarily.

KLM disagrees with you

I've bought an Economy Comfort seat, Extra legroom seat or Preferred seat? Can I participate in the auction?

Yes, you're welcome to participate. If you win the auction, you can apply for a refund for the amount paid for your Economy Comfort, Extra legroom or Preferred seat. More information about refunds

Was this from an email? Or is it on the website? I'd just like some security that KLM will refund me if I both buy a ticket and bid in the auction.

there is no special URL to call. you need to have a booking which allows bid for upgrade. when you are on that bid for upgrade page you can open the FAQ and there it is explained as the last question in the popup...
