Not a real surprise! JetBlue to orders A330neos at Paris Air Show. Let wait for official release by tomorrow morning.

You mean the A320neo? Not aware of an A330neo, but an A330 widebody would be fantastic....

There is an A330neo, but it is supposed to debut in 2018.

this would be very exciting if it happens. Would open up a lot more than just NYC-LON. Let's wait and see this happen first.

Actually, its A330neo, not A320neo. Just accept it!

Looking at the Twitter responses, looks like this was a rumor.

However, if true, I have miles ready to burn to get to LON.

This isn't happening. Someone tried to play that same game with me at the Farnborough show last year. ;)

The company is pretty clear about its plans to grow with the A321neo and and considerations for the LR option. Jumping into twin aisle for longhaul in a VERY competitive TATL market would be far more aggressive than the carrier has shown its behavior to be historically.

Twitter. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Yes, I agree this seems unlikely now, but they do still have 2 more days.

Also, I think Jetblue is dropping the ball the little here by not ordering a couple of more end of the line a321ceo. Delta just got another 10 for I would imagine very good pricing.

I would be shocked if it happens.

But does JetBlue need them? It has a pretty robust order book, especially through the next 18 months or so where the ceo line is still an option.

That would depend on their expansion plan. They have the highest aircraft utilization amongst A320 users, which partially explains their on-time record. If they go with A321LR out of the orders they have now, then that means they will have much less domestic expansion capacity starting in 2019 when they will be challenged by delta in BOS and southwest/spirit in FLL.

But it seems like they have a very conservative leadership that is actively listening to wall street's preaching of capacity discpline.

So. Is the rumor was false? I don't see any news about JetBlue. They aren't going to ordered A330neo.

BbTrumpet Jun 21, 2017 4:11 pm

FWIW, on a flight last week from BOS, cabin crew remarked that they'd be starting Europe service with the A321LR. This seems far more likely than introduction of 330s.

Also the OP's link was gone by the time I went to check it.

Still, these things are largely speculative until real public announcements are made.

RWPrincess Jun 22, 2017 3:13 pm

I'd honestly rather see them beef up domestic capacity before expanding to Europe.

Midwest footprint is still awful and while West Coast has improved, you still really can't get anywhere in the middle of the country or between focus cities and smaller cities on the West Coast.
