I really loved the red wine poached pear on this month's westbound breakfast. The whipped vanilla yogurt is so decadent.

Is the Welcome Taste designed to be an appetizer, or is it supposed to be an entree option that they really want you to try?

I had the red wine poached pear as a Welcome Taste a year ago. I find it interesting how it's been "promoted" to entree level now.

It's intended as an amuse bouche.

Looks great, except I don't see any soup in that soup.

When I was served the eggplant mousse I thought it was going to be incredibly nasty, but I found it really quite good. And I don't even like eggplant. Worth a try.

Thanks for the great photos as usual!

Some disappointing "enhancements" with JetBlue Mint menus in April

I am still mainly out of the country and have yet to step onboard a Mint flight, but have been tracking its menus, which are updated on its website monthly.

I have noticed some "enhancements" with the menus:

Not so bad "enhancements" - basically changed vendors
1. No more Blue Marble ice cream - now just local brand - whatever that meant
2. The pre-arrival pastry is now designed by Milk Bar.

Real "enhancement":
1. Cutback on dessert - no more fruit salad, which is bad because I like the options of that fruit salad. jetBlue's fresh fruit basket has been pretty inconsistent on its offering, such as the lack of bananas on most flights.
2. Change on redeye flights offering:
a. No more amuse bouche to go with first beverage service
b. The pre-arrival breakfast has been reduced from a hot egg sandwich/wrap to a bagel and a bottle of cold-pressed juice, but now jetBlue will also use Milk bar bakery items for those redeye breakfasts.

Anyone experiences the new jetBlue Mint catering yet?

I'm currently on a Mosaic run.

The ice cream out of Boston was from a very popular (if tax evading) local specialty ice cream shop. It was very good. Ice cream (sorbet) out of LA also good.

On the entrees, four fantastics and two pretty good (although one of the latter is because, for me, a little artichoke goes a long way). On each leg, there were 4 I could have chosen.

It's only my 7th or 8th trip on Mint, and I don't remember fruit salad. I did not remember seeing whole fruit on the trip west.

I got a giant cookie as the pre-arrival treat and it was good.

Is it Toscaninis? I used to get my morning coffee from there when I worked across the street!
