Question 24hour Courtesy Cancel with No Penalty if Booked with Orbitz?

Hello Everyone,

I know JetBlue requires instant purchase of tickets and no 24 hour penalty free cancellation.

I was wondering if anyone here has purchased through Orbitz and been able to cancel within the 24hours?

I called them and Orbitz said they had a 24hour courtesy cancel for JetBlue.

Just wanted to see if anyone has done this first hand.

Thanks!

That might be an orbitz policy, because I don't think jetBlue has a 24 no-fee cancellation policy. I think B6 might have an unpublished 4 hour no-fee cancellation though...

I was able to do a 24 hour Orbitz cancel, you just have to call Orbitz (it cannot be done online).

Just purchased a B6 ticket yesterday morning but alas my schedule has changed. Understand there is not a 24-hour grace period, but is there no way I can get a full refund for my ticket? Perhaps some secret phrase or unpublished rule that can be used? Thanks.

There's only an unpublished 4-hour refund rule. However, if there's a schedule change, you could probably use that to get a refund. Otherwise, there's a $100 change fee :-/

Thanks to all who posted about a 4 hour unpublished rule. It indeed is unpublished and I was able to change two tickets at the 3.5 hour mark at no charge.

So is it 4hrs or 24 hrs or 10pm next day?

I see the cancel button right now, will it be gone after 4 hours? (Aeromexico)

Called B6 and the CSR said I cannot change/cancel the flight online because I bought the ticket via a travel agent.
So, I called my travel agent and he indeed could cancel the itinerary for a small nominal fee. The TA said that because the change was within the 24 hours purchase window, I was not required to pay the B6 $100 change/cancellation fee.

Conclusion: do not book online at jetblue.com if you are not 100% sure. Use a travel agent or 3rd party website (Orbitz, etc.) instead if you wanna save the $100 fee. The $100 is too high in relation to the extra points you get by booking on jetblue.com

What was the "nominal" fee that you paid the TA to do the cancel?

Generally speaking the OTAs follow the rules of the issuing carrier so if B6 has a 4 hour rule then so would Orbitz or Travelocity.
