Question Atsuyaki tamago place in Tokyo

Anyone knows where to find one without going to a full omakase course in high end restaurant? I'll be in Tokyo for 2 days and would like to try.

I'm looking for high quality ones that are typically served in washoku Japanese course as the last item. I know Tsukiji market has plenty but I'd like to try something like below that aren't found in those stores.

Their 1100yen lunch set "ohiru no setto" showcases dashimaki-tamago.

Don't know much about the kaiseki style, but the dashi laced sweet omelets evergrn mentions are a speciality of soba restaurants.
If you are interested in these, I can highly recommend the tamago yaki at Muromachi Sunaba

Are the dashimaki tamago the type where you can see the layers of egg? I'm specifically more interested in the type that's more blended like the previous picture, where it's more cake-like. I've only seen it in super high end restaurants and not regular places.

Atsuyaki Tamago (厚焼き玉子) and Dashimaki Tamago (だし巻き玉子) are often differentiated by region and taste. In Kanto region which include Tokyo it is often called Atsuyaki Tamago and usually made with sugar. In Kansai region which include Osaka it is often called Dashimaki Tamago and usually made without sugar. These are usual difference between Atsuyaki Tamago and Dashimaki Tamago.

Atsuyaki Tamago which you have described is likely the regional egg dish known in Nichinan (日南) region of Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu. Atsuyaki Tamago or Dashimaki Tamago is made with making thin layer of egg cooked on a pan and repeatedly fold over to make the shape. In Nichinan region of Miyazaki beaten eggs are poured into the pan and slowly cooked over time by itself without folding layers of cooked egg. This dish come out about 2.5 inches, or 5 cm, thick and has consistency of pudding.

I suspect you were served Atsuyaki Tamago from Nichinan region at the restaurant. Serving Atsuyaki Tamago or Dashimaki Tamago at the end of the meal is not standard fare in upper scale restaurant in Japan. I think the restaurant you visited happened to serve Atsuyaki Tamago from Nichinan region at the end of the meal.

Yes that's what I'm looking for I think, now question is where to get them in larger quantity instead of the one bite from high end restaurants.

How difficult is it to find datemaki in June/July?
It’s a New Year specialty, but I’ve never actually looked for it.
There’s an illustrator who used to catalogue his year end datemaki experiences, but I’m not sure if this is useful for the OP. http://d-p.2-d.jp/6ot/datemaki/

Seems that the tsukiji omelet specialists sell this at the end of the year. It’s not quite the omelet asked about, but closer than the other suggestions.

Atsuyaki Tamago OP is referring to is not specific to high end restaurant, it just happen that OP had it at high end restaurant. At Nichinan region of Miyazaki it is sold commonly at stores and can be bought at a gift shop at Miyazaki Airport for take home. It is available at various websites for purchase online to be shipped to OP's hotel, although many of those websites are in Japanese only.

Yes thanks for the keyword I did find some sites describing the local tamago as Atuyaki Tamago (Thick Omelet) | NOMAD Nichinan

Do you know what website or gift shops may carry it?

Thank you!

I was hoping that some high end department stores in Tokyo would have these in their B1/B2 level food hall or supermarket where I can just grab and go, but oh well.

If you're near Shinjuku, you could drop by the Miyazaki prefecture shop in Shinjuku Southern Terrace and ask there. If they don't sell it, they might point you to somewhere that does.
