Closest station: Tokyo (Marunouchi side)
Restaurant Name: Mahorama
Type of food: Fish and huge bento trays (you will feel full)

Located in the restaurant area underneath the newly reconstructed Mitsubishi Shintaku bank (take the stairs leading downwards from the Dean & Deluca cafe)

Also, for those who bemoan the general wasteland that is subcontinental food in Tokyo, let me recommend an excellent find. It is called Dhaba India, in Yaesu/Kyobashi. It specializes in southern Indian food (non-vegetarian), and it has killer dosas. Quite good, and not too expensive for Tokyo. Lunch is sub-1,000 yen, and dinner for two is about 5-6,000 yen.

Here's another one. It is a small place called "T" (yes, just the letter T), on the grounds of Atago Jinja. 1500 yen gives you a choice of three lunch sets: a chicken don, a fish don, or a noodle dish. Portions are huge, and come with an appetizer, a delicious miso-based vegetable soup, coffee/tea and a little sweet snack. Story is that all the food is locally grown and chosen for its freshness and taste. Very good deal.

Have a meeting there on Thursday and now I know where I am going for lunch...

Want to eat in Japan but are intimidated by chopsticks?
Here's an instructional video:

And I've even found out about a potential new hobby - ohashi 'origami'

I've just added Mimiu (udon) and Suegen (oyako-don) in the Shinbashi area to my post on page one of this thread. Both are around 1000yen for lunch.
I recently had a nice 2000yen lunch at a Seto-naikai-style kaiseki place in Uchisaiwaicho. Going to check it once more before releasing here. There's also an udon place in Uchisaiwaicho that has some good 1000yen lunches (but some other dishes are bland), and I'm probably going to post that with the appropriate caveat.
I think my kagurazaka recommendations need updating - I believe PowWow is being torn down for a new building. And there's a nice cafe with a couple of tables on the balcony at Akagi tei. I'll try to update all of this in the thread next weekend.

Mmm, oyako-don.... There is some talk of a business trip in the near future, and I will have to be eating some of that. Does Suegen leave their eggs relatively runny, or is it a drier version?

(I have a friend who feels compelled to make nasty comments on the runniness of my eggs every time we have breakfast together--I finally got smart enough to stop having breakfast with her.)
