Bit of an exaggeration actually. I think the actual % of foreign employees at convenience stores is only 30 or 40%....not 100%

There's long been a ton of Korean/Chinese konbini workers, but I'll admit I did a double-take when I saw a fellow white guy working at a 7-11 in Osaka the other day.

My local Lawson (in Osaka) had an Indian guy working there in 2010 or so, and there's been a black guy working at 7/11 on Saturday nights in Shinsaibashi for years.

There was a British-Japanese kid working at my local supermarket when I lived in Tokyo. His surname was "French," (or perhaps "France"? I forget) which caused much confusion for people who read his name badge and assumed it referred to his nationality. He got used to being greeted with "bonjour," by the Japanese customers. The French customers also greeted him with "bonjour," but they said that to the Japanese employees too, so I'm not sure if they were confused by the badge.

Wow, that's interesting. I don't remember seeing anyone obviously not Japanese working at a konbini back a few years ago, but I wasn't exactly looking all that closely.

Lightbulb Trains

Let's see...
A grade crossing in Setagaya Ward @ Shimo-Kitazawa was finally eliminated (put into subway).

You can take a one-seat ride from Motomachi-Chukagai terminus in Yokohama, Kanagawa to Hanno in Saitama [80.7 km] for ¥1190 [ticket]| 1177 [PASMO].
