Traditional Retreat Ideas
Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a recommendation for a city/place to go visit in Japan that would be of the beaten track. Something like a "homestay" concept but perhaps within an inexpensive Bed & breakfast type place?
I was hoping people could give me some recommendations for a location which is out of town and more into nature. Somewhere where one can experience a more simple , yet traditional, life. I am sure there exists these small type of "hotels" or "Ryokans" but I dont even know where to start. Any place in Japan will do!
Thanks

If budget is a deciding factor:

The house at Hattoji seems to fit what you are describing.
When I wanted to spend time in the Japanese countryside I chose the villa at Shiraishi island.
