That's the NAS Yamazaki, eh? I have a bottle, but honestly, don't recall where or when I got it. The VA ABC stores carry only the 12 these days, and I've only come across 12 and 18 (the latter at horrid 50k JPY prices) at airports and in department stores in the TYO area the past couple of years.

It's definitely NAS--I'm guessing it's similar to "Distiller's Reserve" for the export market.

Was at Narita terminal 2 yesterday - They only had Yamazaki 18 and Hibiki 21 for 50,000 yen. Picked up a Nikka 12 for 6300 yen and Nikka Taketsuru pure malt for 2700 yen. Super happy with my buys.

Had it. Still nice, but not as good as the aged expressions. I hope someday they'll produce those again.

I'm flying back to Tokyo in April. This time spending 3 days in the city. Any recommendations where to buy some age statement whisky at decent prices?

Not in Tokyo. Unless you're lucky and just happened to be in the right place when a shipment comes in . Otherwise, as the man above said, read the thread.

Hard to believe they are charging $95 for a bottle of Hakushu 12.

You mean Liquors Hasegawa.
The Chichbu is a good deal considering how hard it is to find. But the store is not cheap.
