I updated my earlier post with additional info. See above.

They both have prix-fixe menus (called a "kosu menu" in Japanese) for easy ordering.
Agreed, but the Edmont is probably more like ten minutes away. The closing times vary for these two. Ichibandori usually stays open later then Sai. The OP might want to have the hotel concierge check closing times before heading over.

FWIW, I haven't been back to Ichibandori since I came down with food poisoning after eating there @ 2 yrs. ago. YMMV. Koh-un.

Wow. You all are great. I should have mentioned that when I say "walk" I don't mean just a stroll for a couple blocks. I will likely walk something like a total of 90 minutes - making my entire journey with a stop for dinner in the 2 1/2 to 3 hour range.

FWIW, you don't mention any dates when you're arriving. The walk is absolutely possible, but it can be miserable if it's raining and 4 degrees C.

Unless you're hard-core.

Go to Roppongi, especially if it is on a weekend that you are arriving. Actually any day of the week it is fairly live. You get to see Tokyo tower light up at night as well as the colorful Tokyo nightlife..
It's maybe about a $20-30 cab ride from your hotel?
You can get good food here:

Good Luck!!

For "colorful nightlife" I'd head to Shinjuku...

My suggestion is to walk North. Go up Mejiro Dori towards Iidabashi. At Iidabashi station turn left and walk to the other end of the station (the West exit). And from there turn right and walk up Kagurazaka (North again). Along Kagurazaka are several Japanese restaurants - everything from high end to low end.
Got in last night and it was a beautiful evening (and morning, today). I got into my room and unpacked by 8:30 and then set out on this route. It was a very easy walk, and the streets were still full of people.

Mejiro Dori is actually lined with little restaurants, although I kept going to Kagurazaka as recommended, and it was a perfect first night destination. I actually wasn't very hungry, so chose a place at random and had a light meal that was perfect. Walking back at just before 10, I noticed that the places on Mejiro were closing up for the night.

Despite my plan to wear myself out I woke up early this morning and set out on a walk around the Imperial Palace Gardens area, made it all the way around in just about an hour and it was a beautiful walk in the morning with lots of walkers/runners out.

Thanks for the tips!

I don't know Jimbocho that well, but I did frequent one very small restaurant in the area when I was in Tokyo. It's called Tokutei. Small, very friendly place and one woman (perhaps the owner) speaks very good English. I've been several (probably 8) times and have never seen Westerners, though. Last time I was there was several years ago, and the food was very good. It's a traditional set course meal (7-10 courses; can't remember exactly), and well prepared. Price was reasonable, probably about $40. Ask the concierge at your hotel for a map b/c, like almost anything in Tokyo, it is hard to find.

Just a thought.
