What have you chosen?
JL26 (777) with the angled flat, or CX542 (744) with the tight herringbone seating.
Usually we pick CX, upper cabin, back, near the stairs, because it's much cooler that the forward part of the upper cabin.
Never tried the main floor.
Thanks.

It's a 4-5 hr flight departing in the afternoon. Do you seriously need a 100% flat seat? Would rather have the wider seat instead.

Thanks for the words. Good points made. Things I hadn't thought about. I'll enjoy adding my thoughts.
Although, I very much dislike CX food, after stuffing my belly in a CX F lounge, and ten days ahead in Japan, the food on this flight (or any flight - try to fill up in the lounge if possible) is not important. But, it's a good point.
I think JAL food is better than CX, but the quality of the food in JAL J class has clearly gone down, down, down.
This beautiful "box", in the past quite tasty, was for me, uneatable.
The seating is a challenge. Always go for flat, but the CX herring bone seating is so narrow, so totally messed up, a person could easily consider the comfort of the JAL incline.
Enjoyed the Chu Toro in NRT at the JAL F Lounge.

Traveling HND-HKG in December I had the same options, plus CX F, and opted for JL C in the end. It's only a 5-hour day flight and a friend is flying with me, so it's actually nice not to sit in a CX "coffin" seat or F suite by yourself (yes, I do know you can sit together in F, but we'll do that on HKG-ZRH). On day flights I don't mind angled seats at all and windows to look out of are a must.

Relating to my "JAL, J Food - Quality down in 2015" photo above (Post #6). Here's the same "Kobachi" bowl from 2013, that tasted better.
Not sure if anyone can tell a difference from the photos, but the 2015 bowl, was IMO, bad tasting.
Is it just me, or does the tomato from 2015 look "soggy" compared to the 2013 tomato?
Sure hope "soggy" doesn't mean "old", 'cause, now that I think about it, that's sort of how the bowls tasted.
Don't miss the seats though.

Below are isolated shots. Yummy.
