There are more devaluations than listed, e.g. extra fees for issuing and reissuing tickets over the phone.
I am glad they haven't changed the upgrade award chart yet but I have a feeling that will come in the coming years. But at least there are options to travel on non-peak travel dates to lower your redemption rate back to the original level. This is consistent with what being outlined in their corporate plan earlier.
Very limited info have been released regarding JGC5*. So not quite sure if this is like BA one. But it should be similar to the ANA Million Miler program if I have to make a guess.

Lovely. At least we are given time to use our miles

It could be worse. Look at what the US airlines are doing to their programs.
Also, we can still redeem F and J awards at the old levels if we fly on certain days in the middle of the week.
Will be interesting to see if NH matches this. They didn't match JL on elimination of upgrade points.

Very curious about the Five Star program and what it will offer me.
Also, interesting to note that they now have Hawaii-Japan awards in F class so I'm assuming sometime next year, they will be reintroducing F class on that route.

The 400 extra FOP for boarding a JAL flight remains, after how many years will they stop calling this a promotion?

But similar bonus FOP campaigns have expired in the past, e.g. the ridiculous JALCARD one has been replaced by the current 5,000 FOPs for the first flight campaign.

I'm not bothered so much by downgrades in upgrade awards or award tickets, as I'm a hardcore Y-class traveller. For me the coupon awards is much more important.
I do appreciate that we can now pay for excess luggage using miles, as I have to carry products/samples and though I'm now qualifying for JMB Sapphire/JGC wit increased allowance, I need to carry excess luggage often.
I also wished we could get miles on the purchase of excess luggage.
I also wished that Jal Sky Wifi would be more reasonably priced.
For instance 300 miles for 2 hours on international flights.
I and probably most people don't need 24 hours, 2 hours is sufficient.
Currently most people aren't using it, except for elite status (Diamond/Premier) who can get their miles back and hence use it for free.
So that big SATCOM antenna is burning additional fuel for little use.
