It was a 4 class plane and there were pax scattered around J Y+ and Y cabins.

There were at most 25 pax on the plane so it was still very comfy for me in seat 45A (Exit row) but the whole 90 mins I was on the plane I kept thinking about that F seat and what an idiot I was for not inquiring about the upgrade! haha

The cabin looks great though I must say
That is correct. The F cabin seat actually costs only JPY1,000 to upgrade But they usually wouldn't just let anyone sit there. You need to have some kind of status or connecting to international F in general to sit in the F cabin with Class J ticket.

Because of Duration seats are less important IMHO. You get lounge access, priority check-in a decent but small meal, champagne etc. Definitely worth 7000-8000 JPY upgrade over Y

I am confused. When are upgrades 1,000 yen and when are they 8,000?

It is only JPY8,000 when real domestic F is offered. On this flight, only Class J is offered, and therefore only JPY1,000 surcharge to upgrade to that cabin.

unless you do HND-OKA then the seat also matters. at that time it's a no brainer if you're a true FTer of travelling in style. (I, otoh, believes in FOP/miles return on investment. class J is good cuz you get 10% extra return on 10% extra payment. for F you get 50% return for 80% investment - unless you start drinking like a madman :P)

I wonder what about those who were in Y+ then? Upgrades due to status?

I see, so I shouldn't have requested for an exit row then lol.

How does one know whether the domestic flight is going to be upgaged to a 773? Is there a way to find out in advance - perhaps checking expert flyer?

I'm guessing they are not permanently plying those routes

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 6_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10B142 Safari/8536.25)

The early morning flights to nrt and the last flight from nrt may hv it on a regular basis cuz they want to avoid nrt parking fees...

JAL F on HND-FUK: 777-300? And is it worth JPY7000 extra?

That's interesting. Since sitting in that F seat for a brief moment I read up that they serve Salon!
I'm gonna fly this in F to the states one day haha!

It's only applicable for the ITM flight. For NRT-CTS / NRT-FUK it is scheduled to have 738 so don't count on it

This is incorrect. NRT-CTS has been upgraded to SS7, at least one of the daily flights is.
