Segway to Pisa from Rome and Train Pass advise for a dummy =(
Hello! Im thinking to side trip to Pisa during my 3 night stay in Rome ... can anyone advise on the how to do's for this thought? What train can I get and where to buy tickets???
Also I would be having a 3 day train pass for Eurostar -- is this train pass good as a ticket? Can I get this ticketed at Rome Termini where I will be boarding for Mestre?? Shall I do this in advance online or can I do it at the time of my actual travel at the Termini???

You can find the train schedules and pricing at trenitalia.it
Note that the tower/duomo is closer to Pisa San Rossore station (a 5 minute walk). From Pisa Centrale it's a short bus ride.
Pisa isn't that interesting a city, other than the tower and duomo. There are other much more interesting places and closer options, including Orvieto, Florence, Pompeii, ...
im gonna agree with Pisa not being interesting. On my last trip i was in rome for 4.5 days. and decided to spend the day in Pisa. HUGE mistake. We ended up sitting at the train station for a couple hours just waiting for the train. I did book a eurostar ticket, but the train was nothing in the lines of a eurostar. big waste! but if this is a place where you just want to get off your bucket list, think about combining pisa with another place for a day trip if possible. just dont spend too much time in Pisa, get in, see the tower and duomo eat buy souveniers and get out.

Thanks for this. I just wanted to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Duomo as you said...based on what theyve advised now I changed my route -and would stay in Florence -- immediately jumping off to the first train to Pisa --- ... how do I get to the Leaning Tower from the train station? Is it near?
That having been said, Pisa is worth little more than a quick look if you must see the tower - it leans. My friends in Firenze always told us to avoid Pisa, but we thought we were just seeing the old Firenze/Pisa rivalry. They kept finding reasons for us to not go along the lines of "a chance for a special lunch just came up today...." but we finally escaped and made the trip. They were right. On the other hand, we fell in love with Lucca.

You can take a bus or a cab. It is the destination of the majority of people who get off the train at Pisa - you'll have no trouble finding it.

just follow the massive hoards flocking to it. my friend and i walked around the streets looking for it. found a good place to eat, went over a couple bridges etc. its easy to walk to i dont think you need a cab or anything.
