As I recall, they're the same building, but you may need to step outside. Exit the arrivals hall to the sidewalk, turn left, and re-enter where T2 is marked. T2 is only departures, and they're on ground level, the same level as arrivals.

FLR-FCO-LAX on Alitalia with 1 Hour Connection
I am booked on Alitalia next summer and have a 60 minute connection. Going from Florence to Rome and then connection to Los Angeles. We will have luggage.
Alitalia shows this as a legal connection but sounds iffy. I have never connected in FCO so would like to know whether I should try to push for a flight change.
This is a Delta award ticket on Alitalia metal.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, in advance!

The call is yours. I am Italian and therefore suspicious of Alitalia, but two weeks ago I connected with a 65 minute connection (IIRC) Yerevan-Rome-Tirana. When we entered the terminal there was a smart Alitalia helper who escorted us through security and made sure we were at our gates on time. Luggage also made it.
YMMV, and the decision is yours - you will be huffing it between terminals.
