No language about whether they are eligible for earning points

Unlike the recent Australia / NZ 72 hours sales, this Japan one does not say whether the 50% off rates are eligible to earn points (or being qualifying stays).

I thought that this General terms & conditions apply is the clause that justify that this promo rate qualifies for qualifiying night and subsequently earning points. Any contrary thoughts?

If it doesn't say, then you should be able to earn points. I had couple of exclusive 2 for 1 stays in Europe without points and qualifying nights posted to my PC account; however, I found out the T&C doesn't say the rate IS NOT eligible to earn points, so I email to Ambassador service to ask for points and qualifying nights, and they did finally issue points and nights to my PC account after I asked them to read carefully the the T & C.

IIRC, the Ts and Cs state that certain deeply discounted rates (>30% off FFR) do not earn points or nights. So it's unclear here. I think worth confirming this.

It is a great rate though and may encourage me to accelerate a MR to Japan.

Question

Could a Friday or Saturday stay at this rate be combined with an IC BOGO voucher?

This does not apply to Asia Pacific hotels.

I saw this promotion on Japanese Website.
It clearly says that the 50% off rates are qualifying stays for earning points.
So, we do not have to worry.

Hello LapLap,
This won't be a problem. The preferred procedure would be to buy the first night at the promotional, prepaid rate, and book the same category room for the following night at a refundable rate.

I usually use my BOGO's in Tokyo on a Friday-Saturday combination, as Japan is one of the few places where Saturdays are the most expensive day of the week, at 'wedding-appropriate' hotels at least. However, the idea is to use the BOGO voucher when rates are expensive, not when a deeply discounted one is available

Thank you monahos!
I can't afford to make a mistake with this, and really appreciate your guidance. (50% of 30-40,000yen is rather a lot to me... don't forget the current £-yen exchange rate!)

Just to confirm, by 'refundable' rate I meant to say non-prepaid. Prepaid should work, but the refund process would be an unnecessary and wholly avoidable complication.

Yes, the £ isn't at its best... I took advantage of that to buy some BMI miles

There are several questions that come to mind -
1. there is a mention of blackout dates for the hotels, but it doesn`t say what those blackout dates are. So I guess we`ll find out when we try to book a room?
2. there was a ridiculous experience which happened to a lot of people when the LHW offered a short-term hotel sale a few months ago. People kept getting the message to try again later when they logged on. There are differences this time - the sale is not as dramatic, it only covers Japan rather than the whole world, and the sale window is longer. But I wonder how prepared they really are if there is alot of interest.
3. are the number of rooms at each hotel limited, and are only certain types of rooms eligible rather than all types.

Is ICHG going to hike up the Best Flexible Rate just before the sale?

If the current Best Flexible Rate is going to be used for the base calculation of the Hot Offer Rate, one could stay at IC Yokohama at ca. USD 55 (nett.) in weekdays. I guess I know where to do the mattress run in April – June.
