CP Hong Kong Causeway Bay

- What is your Priority Club status?
RA Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very. Stay similar to Nicolas' earlier post.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Adv club room, got club suite.
At the time of booking, i didn't know they'd upgrade Plats to Club rooms.

How are the rooms?
- Huge suites (for Hong Kong). 80 sqm. Larger than what the ICs give for cheapest room bookings.
- Elegant design without kitsch
- Large bedroom, comfortable bed
- Huge bathroom
- Living room area with small dining table, two sofas and desk.
- Walk-in closet

- What was good and what was bad?
Good

- Welcomed by the GM and escorted to the room.
- Great, unintrusive but proactive service
- Club is nice, as previous posters reported.

Bad
- Prefer staying in Kowloon, but that's not the hotels fault

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, especially if you can get a suite upgrade.

HI Sendai

Holiday Inn Sendai

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum RA

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked and received King Bed City View - pretty much the only category available online, not sure what they could upgrade to, and didn't bother to push for one. Was on a corner, though made no difference to the room.

- How are the rooms?
Room reasonably spacious by Japanese business hotel standards - space to walk around with suitcases on the floor, and even room left for a small table and chairs.

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?

Good
Fairly close to the station
Reasonably sized rooms
Good value

Bad
No PC recognition

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Pretty cheap amongst hotels in Sendai, plus free breakfast through the promotional Free Breakfast and Internet rate. Happy to return if I was staying that way again.

HI Tobu Narita

Holiday Inn Tobu Narita

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum RA

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
It was okay

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked 2 Double Bed Deluxe West Non-smoking, on points, and got one.

- How are the rooms?
Smoky... Couldn't tell if it was smell lingering in that room, or being piped in through the ventilation. Couldn't be bothered going to complain though, it wasn't all that bad. Reasonable size. View of a bit of NRT (north end of 16R/34L and a bit of freight terminal, I think)

Pretty dated, but a reasonable size and comfortable enough for a quick cheap night.

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?

Good
Pretty frequent shuttle buses
All room types available on points, at just 15k
Priority Club members (all members, I suspect) get a voucher for their choice of:
- welcome (soft) drink
- 10% off the restaurant
- half price Fitness Plaza (525 yen)
- 1 bottle of mineral water
- late check-out (16:00)
- 500 yen discount on breakfast (down to 1500 yen)

Bad
Smoky room
Could do with a little bit of an interior refresh... (and apparently that is the "newer" wing...)

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Much cheaper than another night in Tokyo, worth it for a flight before lunchtime.

CP Changi (SIN)

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum RA. However, I was a Gold when I booked it during the Asia sale way back in February, and I got a welcome letter thanking me for being "our Priority Club Gold Elite member". Strangely, it had a fairly up-to-date points balance on it (maybe a week old) - if they were getting my latest points tally, I don't know why they didn't update my status.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yep, very nice.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Deluxe on cheap Asia sale rate. Told at check-in that they were fully booked, and I had been upgraded to a suite. The people walking around in ballgowns suggested there was a function on (unless they were just off a flight and had really gone overboard with the "dress up to get an upgrade" idea )

- How are the rooms?
Lots of mirrors, sliding mirrored doors and little alcoves. Took a good few minutes to explore the whole room! Roughly the size of two standard rooms stuck together, judging by the floor plan.

Bedroom had king bed, big TV on the wall, camomile tea and a cookie on each bedside table. Bathroom had bath, two sinks, rainfall shower and toilet in glass-walled cubicle. Living room with couch, big TV, second toilet and sort of breakfast bar/work area (didn't look at it too closely, my memory is a bit vague). Also minibar, plus tea-making facilities.

View of the interior courtyard/pool area.

- How is the exec. lounge?
No access

- What was good and what was bad?

Good
Upgrade (especially if they thought I was a Gold)
"Gold" benefit of two bottles of water and a plate of macaroons in the room, plus a free paper in the morning and a 1400 late checkout offered.
I quite liked the outdoor walk to the rooms, though it's a bit of a shock when the entire journey from the plane door is air-conditioned, until you step out of the lift.

Bad
Big queue to check out at 7am.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Arrived at 2330, left at 0700, so the suite was a bit wasted on us. Was a good rate though, worth it over the transit hotel.

Lubbock Holiday Inn.

I was very impressed with my reward night at the Lubbock Holiday Inn on Avenue Q. It cost 10,000 points, I was upgraded to a Suite and got a voucher for a free breakfast buffet, the whole deal cost me a couple of bucks tip to the waitress.

Excellent Deal, Nice Hotel.

Cheers Larry.

Woops just realised that this was the IC thread. Sorry.... I won't do it again I promise.

Platinum
- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very, very, very much!
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked lowest cost room at 161.95 CAD (high trade-show season). Got upgraded to exec floor, club access, hand-written note from GM, snack/water/amenities kit, free wifi
- How are the rooms?
A little dated, but large w/nice view
- How is the exec. lounge?
First time for lounge upgrade (so hard to judge), very hospitable service
- What was good and what was bad?
Good - Exceptionally friendly & polite staff (seriously from the valet to check-in to lounge staff - all awesome!, full acknowledgement of status at check-in - room - check-out, did not have to ask for an upgrade (already set up - including the note from the GM)
Bad - parking was expensive, rooms were dated
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Would return without a doubt for the service level alone.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No, not really
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked lowest cost room at $194CAD. Got same.
- How are the rooms?
Newer, but not the best quality finishes (wallpaper peeling, small bathroom, very awkward layout of furniture - cannot watch tv from the lounger), no views
- How is the exec. lounge?
Don't think there is one.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good - room almost clean water glasses in bathroom smelled of cleaner
Bad - very poor service at check-in (& -out). No acknowledgement of PC Plat status (zip, zilch, nada!), poor explanation of where to park & how to get back to the hotel, poor room service menu,
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
why bother, no better at service than any other hotel

HI Chang An West Beijing

Chang An West Beijing

When I first booked this hotel, I thought the name was Chang An West, Beijing.
Well, just an FYI, it's Chang An, West Beijing.

What is your Priority Club status?

Gold

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked Executive King, received Executive King

How are the rooms?

The rooms are in good condition. The first night we had a regular room that had an extension, so it seemed like a jr. suite. Since we had problems with the heat, the next day we were moved to a typical room. Nicely decorated. My wife was pleased. The room was a normal looking room (for a Marriott/Hilton/Sheraton). We were pleased that Holiday Inn had a room to surprise us.

How is the exec. lounge?

No access for us.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Newer Hotel, close to the subway (1 long block away). As you exit the hotel, there's a Holland Bakery just steps to your left; along with a grocery type store that had a great selection of fruit/nuts/candy/ and bakery goodies. You won't starve.

Bad: 20 yuan (USD $3.00) for 15 minutes internet use.
Also, while the subway map makes things look close, it was a 30 minute ride to The Forbidden City/Tian'anmen Sq station. Current subway cost is about 29 cents USD.

As for the neighborhood, this is a real 'gritty' Beijing neighborhood. Not many places to eat with English writing. Made for an interesting experience.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
For 5000 points on the Points break special, I'm not complaining (3 nights) + 1 paid night.

Gold

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Executive King junior suite and I think that's what I got

How are the rooms?
- separate living room
- access to the relatively small bath was possible from the entrance area and from the bedroom
- relatively new furniture
- very comfy bed

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
- nice room
- very friendly staff

Bad
- restaurant was typical pub food (very mediocre)
- room service was very slow, once they delivered the pizza only on my follow-up. Of course the pizza was lukewarm

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, whenever again in that area.

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum RA

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not that much

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate (which finally appeared to be more expensive than the best flexible rate the same day...) and received a so called club room with NO access
One free hour at Business Centre (read: tiny room next to reception with 2 computers, always busy so basically no Internet)
Fruits + water + one drink coupon

- How are the rooms?
Obviously the same as superior rooms
Tiny, recently renovated in an over kitsch design
Stains on the carpet
No view

- How is the exec. lounge?
No access

- What was good and what was bad?

Good
The only positive point of the hotel is its close location to metro station

Bad
No club access
Upgrade policy is a joke
Unpleasant staff
Breakfast at EUR 23!!
Housekeeping slamming the doors every 30 seconds at 9am

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
No, if considering that
1. this property refuses to give club access and offer Internet to Platinum members
2. that the financial crisis heavily hit Greece and hotels are really cheap (except CP...): trendy Fresh hotel is only 80 euros a night

CP Athens is typically that kind of hotels which are happy to get customers from the IHG system, but do not accept to reward loyal customers.

Good
First time I stayed at this property (I run a project at CDG airport, my team had to work VERY late, and had a morning flight at CDG the next day)

Pleasant lobby
Very nice staff (reception at check-in / check-out, bar)
Not so easy to find even if quite close to the airport
Shuttle was given for free at reception

Bad
Shuttle takes 20 mitutes to the airport (so I decided to stop at Roissypole - only five minutes from the hotel - and then take the free automatic metro to Terminal 2)

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes (good opportunity to sleep longer and get extra points)

Holiday Inn - London Heathrow (Bath Road)

Holiday Inn - London Heathrow (Bath Road)

What is your Priority Club status?

Plat

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked Standard Room, received Executive Room

How are the rooms?

Previous posters have moaned a bit about how they felt the rooms hadn't been upgraded to a higher standard with the rebrand to the new Holiday Inn. However, I thought the rooms were just fine; the bathroom design choices weren't what I would have chosen but overall the place looked fairly new and was very clean. Perfect for one night.

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Very close to Heathrow, was given complimentary water and chocolate, rooms and public areas finished to a high standard (well, for HI anyway). Another nice feature was that the Exec room they gave me was in the same wing as the checkin, rather than in one of the additional wings (not sure if this is a general feature or not). Didn't feel like doing much more walking this day, so that was appreciated. Room was nice and quiet considering that your view will be directly onto the North runway.

Bad: A bit confusing and a 10 min walk to find the free bus to Central Bus Station. Hotel Hoppa is kind of a ripoff at £4, considering you will be on it for all of 30 seconds (probably more expensive per mile than flying F on Emirates! ).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
For £35 a/i, a good deal. If the price of Heathrow Ariel was within £4, I might stay there next time though, as if I'm just using it as a crash pad, being next to the free bus stop is a better feature than somewhat nicer rooms. But the Holiday Inn-Heathrow is definitely the nicer of the two.

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
no

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked the cheapest categorie with corporate rate. I was upgraded to a lakeside double queen room.

How are the rooms?

The rooms are in good condition. The room was in the basement next to the staff dressing room, where they start to clash the door every mornign at 5:45. At night it was noisy until midnight. Upon complaint reception staff told me, they will fix it, but the same issue happened for three nights, then I got direct and they offered me a room change, which I accepted. This room was on the same level as the lobby. During the night guests were walking through that floor and speaking loud, so that I woke up a couple of times.

How is the exec. lounge?

n/a

What was good and what was bad?

Good: location was quite good, as in walking distance to downtown
bar was quite good, with reasonable food
free internet access

Bad: room noise was a nightmare. as the main purpose of my stay wasn't satisfied ( a good sleep) in general I wasn't so happy

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
knowing the other options around there, probably

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Somewhat yes.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a STANDARD ROOM.
Upgraded to a DOUBLE BED WITH SOFA BED SUPERIOR ROOM.

How are the rooms?
According to the photos my new room was was bigger than the one I booked, but it still felt a bit small. There was indeed a sofa bed in the room.
There was a balcony that could actually be used.
The bathroom wasn't big at all.

- How is the exec. lounge?
Don't think there is one.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
Friendly and smiling staff.

Bad
There wasn't really anything bad per se, the place just felt cheap.

- Misc. comments
Not much to do around the hotel, you have to walk a couple of blocks to find a restaurant or a grocery store. The metro station is not really close either.
I thought the location would be good for where I needed to be but alas I was completely mistaken.
I didn't go to breakfast in the morning so I have no idea what it was look like.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Probably not, unless I know that I want or need to be just around the corner.
