POTTS POINT, SYD - No upgrades to Exec Rooms for Plats

Just to advise that Potts Point (near Kings Cross) does not offer upgrades to Exec Room for Plats.
They did offer a 'harbour view' room which was ok, until the view was obscured by trees.

Indeed! Nice hotel but I was given "no trace of any upgrade or amenity whatsoever" when I stayed there in April (unless they considered the nice view of the CBD an upgrade).

I think I posted about my stay, albeit two years ago, when I was upgrades to a real suite on the top floor with a stunning view of the city and harbour, got a few drink vouchers to use at the bar, and a discount offer on breakfast. I was treated very well. How full was the hotel? Could have been a matter of not having much available.

To be fair to them, it did seem to be absolutely choca when I arrived. I was nevertheless greeted as a Platinum and given a few drinks vouchers (which went down well with a very reasonable meal on my last night there).

A harbour view room is an upgrade from a standard room and they are more expensive than the standard rooms

It would have helped had the harbour been visible through the trees!

That was more the disappointing thing for me. Not to upgrade the room type is fine (I get the availability thing), but to find myself on the second floor for my first ever trip to Sydney was a real disappointment from an otherwise (IMHO) very good property.

When I was living in Canberra , I used the Potts Point a few times and found it pretty reasonable; living in Sydney now, I don't need to stay there . If they did give you a harbour view room, then they had upgraded you ; the harbour view rooms are nicer rooms than the standard ones ( particularly the non-refurbished ones )

Actually, being on the second floor it may or my not have been a harbour view; and there lies the problem! What is the point of calling a room a "harbour view" room without actually having a view of the harbour? You certainly couldn't see the harbour (or the Opera House, or the Bridge) from my room. That said, the view of the CBD was very good.
