I understand your point 120%. Beds are a nightmare! In some twisted way of thinking they are offering a huge pillow menu with different herbs and materials, perhaps they want the guest to fill up their beds with pillows to make it softer
The Club lounge at IC Pudong Shanghai is amazing! Evening snacks is definitely a complete dinner. 30 minutes of free back massage is also offered in the lounge!

IC Bangkok or IC Bali have great lounges. Wonderful decor and plenty of food.

The club lounge at IC HKG is so so, though with a nice view.

This was also offered at the IC Tel Aviv Club lounge during the week. Unfortunately, I was there over a weekend. (sad face)

IC shanghai Pudong

- Welcome Gift
Some nice looking chopsticks in a nice looking bag. A bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine and a bottle of chinese wine.

- Minibar content

Red Wine, Scotch, Cognac, Vodka, Gin, Local Beer, Heineken, Asahi, Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Energy Drink, Perrier, Evian, Ice coffee, blueberry flavoured water, Chrysanthemum flavoured water, apple juice, orange juice.

The drinks (including alcohol was free), the snacks are not.

- Were you happy with the hotel/stay?

Not really at first. The staffs at this IC is not really eager to please. They know what is takes BUT they wont do it. But once the problem surfaced to the GM, action was taken very quickly to solve it and to keep me happy. I was eventually happy for the rest of my stay with the upgrade to the Club Suite with Club Access.

- How are the rooms?

the normal suite rooms have a very dated design. It had a day bed just beside the full glass window in the bedroom. I find it comfortable to just lie there and look at people downstairs. I think the rooms are rather warm. Though I adjusted the thermostat, but because they put the heater on, it doesn't really help. I am still hot. The amenties were generic amenties which I didn:t really enjoy.

The Club suite had a more contemporary design. I rather enjoyed it. The bathroom were better appointed even though I am not very satisfied with the shallow bathtub. The amenities for the Club suite were by Aigner Parfums. Nothing fantastic.

- How is the exec lounge.

The service was excellent. The views were among the best of the hotel. It was on the 24th floor. Food was great.

- What was good?

In the Club suite, everything was great. Ranging from free internet to the free massage.

- What was bad?

If you are not in a club suite, then everything is bad. My suite toilet was acting weirdly. The room design was horrible. The bed was uncomfortable. Staff at this IC is not willing to please. They are too operational.

- VAlue for $ or PC points?

I don't think it is really a fantastic hotel. There are many better IC where you can put your money or points to better use. If you are coming to shanghai, a much better hotel to stay in would be the Grand Hyatt. I stayed there before and had a view of the famous BUND.

- Would you return?

Probably not. Unless I have to come to Shanghai again which I would call the GM before I come to make sure that everything is ok.

Sad to read that your IC Shanghai stay wasn’t satisfying. I actually liked this property, except for its location and the nightmare beds (hard as a sleeping on concrete). At the time I visited I was “only” Ambassador, booked the cheapest available room but got upgraded to a Club floor room with access to the Club. Registration took place in the room and the lady showed every feature in the room. In the Club lounge the food was great, could easily make a dinner out of it!
Is the nice lady from Germany still working here as Club lounge manager?

I was told that they no longer upgrade ppl to the Club Floor. The 30 mins massage has turned into a 15 mins massage. And yes, the nice lady from Germany (whom studied in England) is still the club manager. She has been very helpful and nice.

Checked into the IC HKG last night, having booked the following:

Quote:
InterContinental Hong Kong
Luxurious getaways and extravagant views at InterContinental Hong Kong.
Book a luxury getaway and receive an upgrade to a fabulous Junior Suite with stunning views of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour. Includes buffet breakfast for two, afternoon tea and an evening champagne bar in the Club InterContinental lounge. Offer valid 1 February until 31 May 2005.
After the initial booking was done, within a couple days, the reservation computer changed our booking to JUNIOR SUITE WITH WEST VIEW, and then again changed to JUNIOR SUITE WITH EAST VIEW. On initial arrival at the hotel, inquired about additional upgrade as a RA, was told that we were already double-upgraded, and no additional upgrade is possible. The East view is less than optimal, really a sideways view of the harbor, I will try to find out about the West view.

In room check-in was done by the Guest Services Officer within a few minutes, and we were given one of the xx45 suites overlooking the pool. Fruit, water, and a nice pen as welcome gift was already in room, additional chinese tea and more fruit was delivered within a few minutes. Beverages only are included as the RA free mini-bar, standard 4pm Ambassador late checkout was offered. No other RA benefit was mentioned.

As part of the package, High speed Internet access and local calls are complimentary, as well as a 15 minute massage. We had evening cocktail in the 2nd floor Club Intercontinental lounge, which served a decent spread of canapes and hors d’oeuvre along with a decent view of the Victoria harbor.

I have put a link to this thread in the sticky at the top of the forum, its in the "Priority Club Levels and Royal/Ambassador status Details" post #1, so it can be found easy since the search is down.

InterContinental Frankfurt

InterContinental Frankfurt

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I was upgraded to a suite on the 10th floor (had booked a standard/classic room). The suite had two bathrooms, a living room and a bed room.

- How are the rooms?
Very nice rooms in a good condition.

- How is the exec. lounge?
I didn't check-out the lounge which is on the top floor.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good location, excellent status recognition.
Only a gym, no pool.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I would return if the price is lright. The price is quite high and there are many other good options in Frankfurt.

Unhappy IC Buckhead Atlanta

I Have had 10 or 12 stays at IC Buckhead since they opened last November. The 4 or 5 stays in November and December were great. I was given a nice upper floor room with access to the very nice club; provided a nice fruit basket and water along with a small gift(candy or key chain). My first stay this year was also a nice room with club access, however the last several stays since have gone steadily down hill and the policy now seems to be no club access for Ambassadors and deminishing amenities. My last stay on March 18th was in a very small room with no fruit basket, no water and no gift...however, I did manage to get my newspaper in the morning. The staff has always been very nice, so it appears to be a managerial trend toward less recognition for Ambassadors.

Well that's disappointing, I was planning a stay in the coming month at the IC Buckhead. As i mentioned before I'm a new AMB(not RA ) and I've recently experienced my first stay at the IC New Orleans. While the check-in and welcome was surperb and beyond any other hotel in the past, I didn't get any sort of upgrade and since I was with my family, I didn't set a blaze of rage nor did I beg with pity.

I booked an advance rate Superior Double Room at $105. There was no mineral water, fruit, or gift upon arrival nor anything that made me feel like I am a "special" guest. I started to assume that I paid $150 to check in faster. However the room was very nice; marble floor bath, balcony, mini bar, polite staff; all of the norms of an IC. After a phone call to the front desk for a reminder being an AMB, I received a welcome letter, fruit, and water, and chocolate prylines as a gift. The experice would have of course be alot better with an upgrade and for the staff to acknowledge me being an AMB instead of me acknowledging myself.

IC Istanbul

Spent two nights at the IC Istanbul after booking it through a 2 for 1 weekend promotion.

Booked a king club room was upgraded to a large suite on the top (18th) floor overlooking Taksim Square and the Bosphorus. Panoramic floor to ceiling windows. Bed was too hard for our taste. Very large sitting area one and a half bath.

Had club access due to my initial booking - nice club area on 16th floor. Very good buffet breakfast.

Everything free in minibar.

Good, attentive staff. Metal detector in lobby.

Did you call down for the basics [water, fruit bowl, gift]? Often these do arrive after one has checked in, and if not you should call for them as these are givens.
