Thumbs up IC Bangkok

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Booked an Executive room on F&F rate and was upgraded to a Club room with all club benefits. A bottle of wine as welcome gift and RA minibar benefit excl. snacs.

Nice, modern look. Large desk for working and a comfortable sofa. Hugh 50" TV. The bathroom looks a bit old.

How is the exec. lounge?
Fantastic. Great breakfast with a nice a la carte menu (westerns and thai). Good evening coctails with nice view of BKK. The staff is the best - so friendly and service oriented!

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Great service. Good location for shopping and close to BTS. The lounge!!

Bad: Bathroom. Small swimming pool.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value for money. YES I will return.

Which seems to constitute selling under false pretence. Very poor.

You need to phone up and ask for the "hard liquor package" in Budapest. I believe it is still free for RAs, they just don't automatically fill the minibar with it. Otherwise, it looks rather sad like the one pictured.

Maybe nothing to complain about, but for me it looks a bit 80's and really need a refurbishment -- and doesn't match the rest of the room in modern design as I like it...

IC Chicago Magnificent Mile

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, almost 100%

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I booked a King Deluxe room on an advance purchase rate for 3 nights. I was upgraded to a King Magnificent Mile Suite on the 20th floor in the main building.

How are the rooms?
The room was very nice. With a decent view out of the front of the building on Michigan Ave. I did receive a welcome letter.

The two room suite had pullout couch and a second full bathroom. This was superbly convenient for my college roomy who showed up unscheduled for an overnight visit. The bathrooms were not as spacious as some hotels or quite as nicely appointed as others, but it was clean and well stocked.

The large desk in the sitting room easily fit my laptop and the proprietary internet/touchscreen hardware. I never accessed the hotel network.

Due to the shape of the building, a few items are oddly placed, including the closet in the bedroom. Although it is long, the door doesn't open very wide as it fits snugly between the sitting room and bathroom walls. The A/C vent above the closet door made some noise, and I could see an extensive amount of dust collecting inside the vent.

How is the exec. lounge?
Is there one? Forgot to inquire.

What was your welcome gift?
A box of chocolates. At first I thought they were from Moonstruck, but not so sure.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
I received a fruit plate (orange x2 + apple) and bottled water.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
  • Double room suite
  • Two full bathrooms
  • Starbucks in lobby
  • Location in the city
  • Good customer service
  • Free internet for Ambassador
  • Received the newspaper

Bad
  • No elite check-in. I watched a concierge repeatedly tell two older men how to use the door key.
  • Bathroom fixtures need updating
  • Never found the ice machine

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
I think I paid around $200 per night. This was reasonable.

Would you return?
Yes. I have stayed in almost all of the chain hotels in Chicago and I think I have settled on the Westin and Intercontinental as my default hotels.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked deluxe room and got Junior Suite

How are the rooms?
Very nice. Good size - probably 50sqm, huge bathroom with bath and separate shower. LCD TV, no in-house movies (you can get DVDs).

How is the exec. lounge?
Don't know

What was your welcome gift?
A little hand-crafted pouch/mobile phone holder plus assorted little cakes and sweets.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
No

What was good?
Nice room, free internet.

Bad
Nothing really

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Corporate rate, so fine for me!

Would you return?
Yes, because I have to for work, but also I like the hotel vs my other company options, Shangri-La ($$) and New World. It's in a good location and the trip to the airport is good now the Skyway is open.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, as always

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate and received a business suite with Bosphorus view and club lounge access.

How are the rooms?
Large (60 sqm)
Nice view over the city and the Bosphorus
Partly renovated in an opulent (read kitsch) style (nothing to do I am afraid with the superb House Hotel Nisantasi)
Superb marble bathroom with Jacuzzi, seperate walk-in shower
Comfortable bed
Ipod deck
Flat screen television with large choice of international channels
No on demand tv (but you can rent for free a pretty good choice of dvds)
Free wifi

How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent service
Nice view
Very good breakfast
Free wifi
3 PCs with colour printer
Ugly decor

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Very friendly and professional staff
View
Very good club lounge
Large room with nice view

Bad
It is a pity that the design is not as elegant as some recent boutique hotels in town
Smoke smell in the club lounge and corridors

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes
Great hotel despite kistch interior design

Location is very convenient. Very close to most trendy places :
- south to Harbiye with upscale boutique and restaurants,
- north to Cihangir, with trendy cafés (love White Mill Café)
- north to Serdar-ı Ekrem, with designer boutiques

Video of the suite
