Could you bring Motors summary post number 1 over, it is very useful?

Week 6 has wrapped, but I did find a photo match that supported the Kauai answer... it sort of seemed to get lost in the now-closed thread (I only posted a link to the web page). Here, I'm just testing out my new photo-posting skills in the wake of Week 6 while all is quiet... many thanks to jrc35jrc35 for the very helpful tutorial on posting photos this week!

Above the hiker's head is the 'humped' cliff with the same steep vertical drop as presented on Day 3:
http://www.corbisimages.com/Search#p=5&q=na+pali+coast

Nearby Lumahai Beach has the same golden sand (and even vegetation) that we were looking for. This came from an 'Images' search on Google:

Lumahai Beach was the setting for the film South Pacific, so Day 4's clue "Located in the Pacific" had even more significance as a clue.

BTW, we Pacific Coasters begin the game at 9 pm Monday... can't wait to contribute to Weeks 7 & 8

Keep this thread out of all the off topic posts.

And now let's do the daily business - find the correct answer.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have done this by copying the first post out of the first thread.

Oh, this is great! So glad you found those pics. It was frustrating, for me that is, not to find that cliff.

Could you post where you found them since they seem to be getting away from Shutterstock photos it will help with the next challenge's search.

Revised number of winners week 3 - mystery solved

Do you remember the changes that were made to the number of winners for week 3 (Kenai River, Alaska)?

Well, this was the list originally published for week 3:

Now take a closer look at the winners for week 4 (Sabah, Malaysia):

Conclusion: they initially published the week 4 results instead of the week 3 results, and corrected that later.

That also means that the results for the week are already available a few days after the week has ended, but are only published one week later....

Source of Photos

I never did find source of the sky and clouds, in spite of searching every stock photo site I could find.

Any links to the actual photos they used, that include location tags, would be a great help in next couple of weeks.

I think that life just got a lot tougher for us!

Since the surf board was not actually from a photo taken in Kauai, do you think they could now just be using random photos not actually from the location just representing the activities available in the location?

http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-5250...on-desert.html

If so, this is really going to make the next challenge hard.

Also, the tag on the photo was surf board on Shutterstock but it was actually a wind surfing board; both of which activities are very popular on Kauai.

I hope that the land, sea, and sky are real photos from the location. If they are finding them by searching with the location as a keyword, then we should be able to find them also - if we can figure out where they are searching.

I suppose that they feel they can decorate the image with any old junk that represents the activities. Unfortunately the link to the catamaran image is not to the original source, and the poster does not state if it was tagged as Kauai. But the surf board is proof.

I just figured out the sky! The rainbow was Photoshopped out and then added back in. Find the rainbow, find the sky. Drag the bar slowly and you can see the section and how it is a perfect match to the sky.

Although the only reason to find it at this point would be to see where the images are coming from. Doubt it's worth the time.

Thanks for the restart

Motors, Thanks for starting a new thread with the info you have been keeping updated. I saw there were 2 other new ones recently started once the original was closed but this is the core group. Hope to continue to contribute.^^^
