Question So, how have we done ? [2009 points totals]

Well, my last stay of the year posted so I now have a total for the year and it's a record for me.

603,000 points, plus four free nights (IC BUD) in the alternative promo.

That's from about 220 qualifying nights, mostly in UK based Holiday Inn hotels. I probably have another 20 or so nights for vacation which means I only spend about 120 nights at home

So, how do I compare ? I'm sure that there are some with more, but has anyone broken 1,000,000 this year ?

Don't worry about offering to spend them for me though, my current balance is only just over 300k.

Well done!

I only found the forum a few months back. I have 280K points left, 42 nights showing as qualifying, but did have a week in Dubai in the summer as well, room and meals on points.

Nice job folks. I'm pretty lite on points this year and am debating buying a few thousand points for plat next yeat. I'm leaning towards not.

326869 Points from 44 qualifying nights, which works out at 7,429 Points per stay.

If I had stayed 220 nights I would have got 1.6m Points with that average lol

Earned 370000 in 2009 from 51 nights. Shifted a lot of nights from IHG to attain SPG Plat in 09 and even spent 350000 pts this year so still pleased to end up 2009 with 320K in my account. Expect 2010 to pan out the same but may shift more to IHG if points earning promo's are worth it.

Revenues down this year so spent more points from my FT rebate program

211000 + 4 free nights from 45 Qualifying Nights, mostly at cheap HI HIE in UK.

Average works out at 5700 points per night ignoring the 8 nights used to get the 4 free nights.

82,140 from 7 nights, mainly due to you guys, still, not bad for my second choice group, especially when Marriott only got me 263,534 from 72 paid nights. So IHG pays out 3 times more than MR, interesting...

Qualifying Nights Towards Elite Status in 2009: 54
Points Earned in 2009: 440225

I was off in Jan/Feb.. and also got 45 nights on HH.. but will stop HH next year as it will be faster to get a free night from IHG... even if I use the "Any Hotel, Anywhere Reward" from IHG to pay for a non IHG hotels.

Just a reminder to everyone, you can get a 12 month history with this link:
https://secure.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d...ransaction=365

I had 22 nights and 171,056 points. So 7,775 points per night. What's amazing is that I didn't find this forum until I had 12 nights...if only I had known! In my last 10 nights I've earned 146,900 points for an average of 14,690 per night!

In the spirit of "how'd you do" I'd also like to mention Pointsbreak hotels...I'm writing this during my first pointsbreak night. I needed to drive from Texas to Michigan and what do you know, there are pointsbreak options near Oklahoma City and St Louis which are almost exactly a third and two thirds of the way through. Right now I'm in a HI in Stillwater OK for 5000 points, upgraded to a suite, with free breakfast, free internet and 2000 bonus points for being platinum! It's hard to argue with a program that earns 14k per paid night and redeems at 3k

I find this helps me....

-Relative flexibility to move travel blocks into best promo's
-Stay at hotels that have restaurants. Same when you stay on points at least you get food/drink points. Sometimes have a meal with clients. I avoid HIX when possible.
-Book 3000-5000 pt rate when reasonable....sometimes only $15-20 more
-Scan FT as not all promo's make it to the first page

371,130 from 47 Qualifying nights... 4 free nights (IC Boston, IC Buckhead, 2 at IC Bangkok)...

but I'm staying in a IHG Hotel(s) from the 25th through the 1st so balance will probably hit 400K...

couldn't have done half of that without this board... thanks!

319,602 from 39 qualifying nights + 4 free nights

All of my paid nights were at HI or HIX. I redeemed points and a couple free nights at CPs.
