Billing problems @ CP Times Square... anyone else?

Hi,

I stayed at the PC Times Sq last weekend, had a wonderful two nights there, a superb hotel, nice rooms, great location, friendly staff etc...

I just checked my bank statement today online and have been billed $70.40 for "incidental charges" by the hotel. When I checked out, I was told there were no incidental charges on my room.

The bill that was put under my door contained the following:

Internet access: $49.50 (Which was removed when I checked out, as free for Gold)
2 x Pay TV: $13.99 each. (Removed as I my pay TV was not working, and these were the two attempts to get it to work)

All items removed, yet still charged an amount for something that no one can tell me what it is for. Spoken to PC Gold line who could not tell me anything, and was told to ring hotel direct on Monday as there was no one in the hotel who can help.

Anyone had any similar experiences at any of the group properties?

Regards,

This sort of thing has happened to me before. Hotel stay that should have been charged to my company, with me told nothing to pay on check out suddenly turned up on my credit card statement. PC didn't want to know and I had to deal directly with the hotel. Took about four our five conversations to find out it was an over zealous member of staff not following the notes in the booking. They didn't seem to care that I hadn't signed to authorise the payment and I found the whole experience really off putting.

Might help if you have a copy of the letter stating the internet charges should be refunded to Golds - a scan could accompany any emails you send?

Just keep on at them and copy PC in to any emails you send (better to have things in writing and cheaper than phone calls to NYC).

I know!

When I was checking in and the lady told me... I had to ask her to repeat what she said!

When I got Gold, I really was not expecting anything what so ever, apart from the 10% points bonus and to use the priority club check in desk (whoopy!)... So this certainly was a very nice surprise.

Just got back from this hotel......
As a plat I got free Wifi - normally $19.50/day - which is added to your room bill daily and then removed at checkout (although I shall be checking my credit card bill....to make sure).
I had access to the lounge on the 46th floor which provided a free cold buffet style breakfast. The lounge also provides free soft drinks and snacks during the day
But alas no upgraded room...in fact it must have been one of the poorer rooms as it was situated on the 32nd floor right next to the elevator machinary room.
This is my 3rd stay at this hotel (with Plat) and the first time that I have had had any "perks".
I had to ask at check-in for the plat benefits as no mention was made by the receptionist.......so maybe I missed out on these benefits on my two previous occasions.

If you have a look at my trip report which is linked by my signature, there are a few pictures in there of the hotel room that I was able to have as a reward night stay. It was a disabled access room, so larger bathroom, but a very nice room in my opinion.

When I booked my room, in the room description, it did not say that the internet was free, it mentioned the service, but the important "FREE" word certainly was not included...!

Regards,

The room description won't change based on your status.
The hotel is not required to upgrade Plats on award stays, but many (including generally the CP Times Square) do.

Ask at check-in about the Internet access and Club lounge access if they aren't forthcoming about benefits. Plats are generally provided Club access at this property.

Well, after a few days of trying to speak to someone... eventually sorted out.

The lady in Accounts informed me that the charges were for in room movies, to which I informed her about the problems with the TV in the room, which were reported to reception. She advised me she would call back in less than 30 minutes, which she did, and told me she had raised a refund for the charge, and apologized. So all sorted...

Taught me a lesson though... ALWAYS get a copy of your bill on departure, even if they tell you there is nothing to charge to the room...!

Regards,
