Not really. Kiev is just very expensive as far as Luxury hotels go.

Look at the prices of the Fairmont, just crazy if you ask me.

Room service prices at the Hyatt were decent though, especially considering the breakfast and food are really really good

Sweet. We'll overlap two days, I think. Assuming we get lounge access there.

I'm just Plat. Amb and assuming not to get lounge access.

Anyone knows if it is possible to upgrade to club room for a surcharge?

Yes and yes

#44 is mine, at this time (1 day, weekend) I was allowed to use the lounge but it needed some discussion. My second stay (1 day, week) was about two months ago, hotel was quite full and I did not receive access. "As we told you during your last stay it was a one-time exception, according to the terms we normally do not grant upgrades with club access on award stays".

Good look nevertheless, it may work if you are lucky

Breakfast is included as of now. Check out ihg.com for IC Kiev and you will see that breakfast is now included even on reward-stays. Might be a glitch...

Take a screen copy and hope for the best.

So While the reward stays up now do show breakfast included, my reservation does not show anything about breakfast.

Sometimes hotels put rooms 1 level upgrade for redemption... this could be that. But that would mean that we do not...
Wait, all rooms say Breakfast included.
Like there is a best flexible and a best flexible with breakfast, two different prices but both include breakfast. That is odd.

Must be a glitch. Either way, unless you book now, no breakfast.

late October, 25th to 28th.

Regards.

$60 per person for breakfast is insane. I hope someone here can tell us how much is the surcharge for the Club. Might work out better.

Also a note on the new booking page of ihg, when you choose sort by room type, you can see the best available rate is 340 Euros and there is an option to add breakfast for 38 euros or so, which incidently is the difference between BFR and BFRwB. So Breakfast free for all rooms types may be a glitch.

Well it was for me. Kiev hovers just above Chisinau in my league of European capitals to avoid. Chisinau is at the bottom, though to be fair I've yet to do Minsk.

But YMMV, as they say

I enjoyed very much my long summer week-end in Kiev.

I found the people very friendly, I like the cultural offer, the young city, the bar and restaurant scene.

Yes luxury hotels are expensive (but there is also a very good HI recently opened), but was very impressed by the quality of service at IC Kiev.

Definitely an European capital not to avoid.

Agree 100%. Just because the IC's breakfast and Club Lounge are expensive and not free doesn't mean that you should avoid going to Kiev (!)
Really interesting place, beautiful city, some cool places (the monks monastery was my favorite), decent shopping, and good food. Have fun!
