Crowne Plaza...Novi, MI -Advance Purchase

Hello everyone,

Thought I would get your opinions on this. And share my experience.

Booked 2 rooms at this location. One for myself and one for a co-worker. As stated, booked as an advance purchase. My co-worker was injured and will not be able to make the 6 day stay we have booked. Hotel has been less then helpful in their offers. Only offer on the table is to rebook within the next 90 days, which does not help. I can provide medical proof of injury, and neither of us have prior complaints opened with guest services for any reason. Both of us are platinum members as well.

I have been in contact with priority club guest services, who have been more then helpful, promising to take care of the situation and fight on my behalf. I have been very pleased with them.

Just wondering if anyone as experienced same kind of treatment with advance purchase's and NO bending of the rules regardless of situation?

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to ANYONE. Not only because of this instance, but because of the lack of communciation with the whole process and efforts made by hotel staff.

Thank you for any input.

Book an airline flight in a discounted, non-refundable fare. Unless the passenger is dead - and you need proof for that - you have no chance to cancel or even change your flight (for free).

I don't see any difference in advance/ prepaid hotel bookings that explicitly state not cancellations or modifications. They offered you to change the booking: this is more than an airline would do for free, and this is probably more than some IHG advance purchase conditions allow.

Moreover, do you think Starwood (or any other hotel group) would have been more helpful when you try to change one of their "Internet only, full prepaid, no refunds, no modification"-rates? I don't think so.
