CP Bratislava Master Thread [merged]
Hi
Has anyone stayed at the CP in Bratislava? I believe it only opened in August 05, however there's a review dated August 04 on tripadvisor
Any thoughts on Bratislava would be most useful. I'm planning on visiting Vienna from there, which is only 1 hour away by train/bus. Looking to stay 5 nights, this may be too long.
Thanks in anticipation.

DONT DO IT!
I stayed at the hotel about 18 months ago. I admit it was still an Intercontinental Forum hotel then (which should have been better than the new Crowne Plaza standard). The service was dreadful. No one smiled at all. The staff were most unhelpful. I asked where the train station was and they just shrugged their shoulders and walked off.
Back then the hotel was very dated. The rooms were very dark and the bathrooms were painted in a nice dark green and brown colour together with a brown suite and holes in the walls.
The food in the hotel was very poor quality.
Back then I stayed in a club room. The actual club intercontinental lounge was a bedroom with the bed removed but the bedside fixings still in place. It had one chiller cabinet with a plate of about 6 biscuits and three bottles of coke from what I remember. There was no alcohol or any other snacks. The newspapers were about two weeks old.
We complained but got ignored. The website shows the hotel has had a makeover but the worst thing about our stay was the attitude of the staff and the food.
Trust me go and stay at the Radisson SAS which is on the main square. It is far better, the rooms are bigger and brighter and the food is very good although a little expensive compared to what else you find in the city.
One good thing is you can get a train from Bratislava to Vienna for the day cost is about £6 I believe and it takes about an hour.

Thanks so much Rob, for taking the time to answer. The hotel sounds lovely I especially like the sound of the Club room
I've taken your advice and am looking at Krakow now, there is a Holiday Inn near the centre that looks promising!
Cheers, you've been a great help.

CP Bratislava - advice please
I'm staying at the CP Bratislava in October and was wondering if anyone could provide opinion on what the hotel is like in terms of rooms, amenities, club lounge and location and also provide any specific advice or tips that benefit my stay. Many thanks.

Location is very good. Close to many restaurants, shops, bars, clubs, etc. It's not in Old Town, but just a couple of blocks away. The pedestrianized street in back of the hotel will lead you straight to Old Town.
The CP has a new restaurant on the lower level which is quite good and open only at dinner. The dining room on the main level is pretty good, as well.
As far as amenities, the hotel has a nice but small gym, a decent wet area including wave pool, steam room, and a locker room. There's also an upscale casino on the lower level. They provide plush towels and robes at the gym / spa.

CP Bratislava - any suggestions for how to get a good deal?
Am looking to stay at the crown plaza in Bratislava for Easter. Anyone know any good links / codes to get 2 for 1 or any other offers? Am IC Platinum so hopefully a room upgrade at least. Dont have many points left as used most of them, but could still do points/cash if necessary. 2 for 1 would be ideal!
thanks
Gary

CP is a recent and nice property, just opposite the presidential palace.
I have been upgraded to a club room (not so big but comfortable) with club access (good breakfast, drinks, 2 PCs with printer and free internet, evening canapés)
For two for one promotions, click the link (CP Bratislava may not participate at this promotion):

It was on the last PointsBreaks list (I've got a 4 night stay PB there at the end of the month).
It is possible (although probably unlikely) that it could feature on the next PB list, that everybody is hoping will appear soon.
It may be worth checking reward availability as soon as the new PB list is issued - it has been known that there are odd glitches with the website when the new 5k properties are loaded & you never know - you may be lucky.

A bit OT - I just stayed at the HI Bratislava. Location is good, if you need a place to crash before moving on as I did. Hotel is OK, I'd say typical European HI level. Can't comment on the service as I arrived late, left early.

I am interested in staying at this property and am wondering if others Platinum PC members have been upgraded to club level / received breakfast coupons or other benefits.
Reviews on the net are all over the map on this property.

Anyone given lounge access for just being Plat and not RA?
Seems the 3 posts before mine were RAs. (Some CPs do give RAs better upgrades)
Thanks!
Edit: reply from manager indicates same treatment for normal Plat members.
Upgrade to club room, club access and free wifi on advanced purchase rate
Also inquired about twin club rooms. And there are 2.
