The hotel is very pleasant for location, staff, club lounge and spa.
Renovation of the room would be more than welcome.
Lobby area has been renovated but in a questionable style.
Restaurant area has been renovated in a pleasant style.

It would be great that Autoban, which has designed the Flamingo restaurant at the hotel (and some of nicest properties in town), will make the complete renovation of the InterContinental Istanbul.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked Deluxe, got Suite

How are the rooms?

Nice. Suite has separate living/dining area, bedroom has twin doors from the dining area. Single bathroom with entrances from front hallway and from bedroom.

How is the exec. lounge?

Alas, none.

Did you receive a welcome gift?

Two bottles water and a small fruit basket. I didn't need it but it was pretty chintzy.

How was the minibar?

Above average; about 10 different mini bottles,

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
They now have a "VIP check in" area which is to the right of the front entrance. Nothing special but closer to the entrance and the elevators.
Generally good recognition

-Bad
No Club
$39 for (valet-only) parking. Did save a few bucks with a "Free Parking" package which was about $30 more than the Best Flexible Rate. But it's still rather ridiculous for essentially a corporate area. If you're willing to walk a few blocks you can park free.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
A little pricey compared to other ICs.

Would you return?
Yeah, whenever I'm in the area.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes and no

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked deluxe, got a studio suite.

How are the rooms?

Completely renovated. Gone are the classic style decorations. Now it's a modern decor, and flat screen TVs.

Also the reception moved from the 2nd floor to the ground floor, another bar added.

How is the exec. lounge?

THERE IS NO MORE LOUNGE. They took away the 14th floor with its decent lounge and friendly service.

Did you receive a welcome gift?

Usual fruit basket.

How was the minibar?

Average.
What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Like the reception area better.
Nice bar.

-Bad
No more Club lounge.
No more "Avenue Suite" upgrade -- this used to be one of my best upgrades!

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It was a few weeks before Mardi Gras, so rates a bit higher than usual.

Would you return?

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes, a pair of stays

[B]Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive

One was a King Club Room, upgraded to a Suite. The other was a regular room, upgraded to a junior suite, Club access.

How are the rooms?

Nice, but a little dated. Stucco walls.

How is the exec. lounge?

Fairly nice; panoramic views out of both sides of the hotel. Comprehensive breakfast. Generally enough snacks in the evening to make a meal. Awesome desserts/chocolates. Decent bar, with some upscale items (tequilas, etc.) available for an upcharge.

Did you receive a welcome gift?

Yes, in addition to the fruits, mineral water, a different gift each time, last one was a pottery shot glass.

How was the minibar?

Fairly good.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Safe Polanco neighborhood
Walking distance to anthropological museum, Chapultepec, and to a Metro station to see areas such as the Zocalo.
Good Club.

-Bad
Hotel taxi charges about double a regular taxi, but unfortunately you generally want a hotel taxi for safety.
Getting a little frumpy. Presidentes were built to a lesser standard than most ICs.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Fairly good price.

Would you return?
My fifth time.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked two free nights, one paid night. Upgraded to deluxe room with Club access.

How are the rooms?

Not memorable.

How is the exec. lounge?

Expansive. Nice breakfast, and a full dinner. Good selection of wines. Marzipan chocolates all day.

Did you receive a welcome gift?

Some chocolates, bonbons, etc.

How was the minibar?

Good.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Nice upgrades, good treatment
Good location next to Stadtpark, or walking into the center.
Great club.

-Bad
Humorless
It was snowing most of the time, which made things unpleasant. Vienna is pretty in the snow, but not fun walking around.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
The two nights I used free nights were a bit pricey; the final night was a cheaper, approachable, weekend rate.

Would you return?
Yup.

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked on a free night. Got an upgrade but then got downgraded because I wanted two beds but their suites all have a single bed.

How are the rooms?

Classic, tasteful, but given the price, kinda small.

How is the exec. lounge?

There is none.

Did you receive a welcome gift?

Don't remember one.

How was the minibar?

Very Good -- but RA treatment doesn't extend to the large-format bottles of booze. So a mixed review.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
One of the nicest, most luxurious ICs anywhere.

-Bad
Very expensive
Further from the tourist areas of downtown than you want.
No Club

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Frightfully expensive.

Would you return?
If company is covering costs, or I use freebies.

Very much so

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a free room. Upgraded to a deluxe room with two beds. I think I would have had a better upgrade if I had asked for a single King. But ^^^ for giving me Club access and free minibar drinks.

How are the rooms?

Nice, classic

How is the exec. lounge?

One of my favorites. Foie gras, nice wines and liquors.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Some macarons from the in-house patisserie.

How was the minibar?
Very good. It was New Year's Eve so we did quite some damage to the wine and champagne.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
One of my favorite ICs.
Excellent location.
Nice two-story Club lounge.
Great treatment (got late checkout)

-Bad
Sometimes on the pricey side.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
For free, great deal. If on company travel, for sure, Solo, sometimes decent rate, sometimes not.

Would you return?
Been there at least 20 times.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Could be better

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room with breakfast with best rate guarantee, received executive room with terrace. Seems to be the standard upgrade ...

How are the rooms?

A very tiny room, with terrace:
http://youhavebeenupgraded.boardinga...le-hotel-dieu/

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge, you receive a free drink voucher (2 drinks)

What was your welcome gift?
Sweets

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes, apples

What was good and what was bad?
Good
  • New hotel
  • Pool and spa
  • Design and architecture
  • Terrace
  • View

Bad
  • A tiny room is called executive room
  • No writing desk in the executive room (two chairs, a table and a bed, that's it)
  • Upgrade (the hotel was empty)
  • Breakfast (small, crowded restaurant with unfriendly waiters)
  • 24hours fitness was closed at 9pm
  • Hotel is locked from midnight to morning and it's difficult to get in and out
  • Housekeeping calls from 12am to 4pm (every 30 minutes)
  • Check-out problems: They didn't want to remove the minibar items, a manager had to solve this problem. Seems that many RA's are staying there ...

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It's overpriced!

Would you return?
Maybe with best rate ...
