No-one ever offers to buy me off and I'm pretty sure my range is larger than yours!
Four Seasons did pay me £2,600 (100%) back after a particularly dire stay at Hampshire in May but, ironically, the GM hadn't actually seen the slaughtering I gave it in print when she agreed to pay.
IHG gets more paranoid about bad marks on the internal questionnaires you get emailed. I was given 15,000 points at check-out at IC Abu Dhabi when they asked me what mark I would give, and I told them.

Your approach is a bit different. I don't mint if the hotels asks me to please me but I would never ask "I will post bla-bla and you can avoid that by giving me a bunch of points"
