Presidente InterContinental Mexico City

- What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Royal Ambassador

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very much so

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate and was upgraded to a Club King Bed Suite with view over Chapultepec park

- How are the rooms?
Around 50 sqm

Recently renovated in an elegant contemporary design.

Seating area with desk (multi port usb device), corner sofa
Night light which switches on automatically when you walk in the room

Flat screen television set, with basic selection of international channels (quality of the image is pretty poor)

Bedroom with very comfortable bed (and incredibly soft bed sheets).
Desk
iPhone dock

Large bathroom with separate walk-in rain shower and separate toilets (in addition to the toilets next to the entry door of the seating area).
Dressing area (with again amazingly soft bathrobe)
Great soaking bathtub
Occitane Mer & Mistral amenities

Very quiet.
Superb view over Chapultepec park and the city
Fast wifi

- How is the exec. lounge?
  • Simply excellent : very large, with elegant interior design : seating areas, dining area, PCs, magazine
  • Attentive and friendly staff
  • Very good breakfast with option changing every day + à la carte eggs station, served until 11am
  • Very good evening food (4 hot dishes, cold selection, excellent pastries) served until 11pm

- What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
  • Impressive renovation of the hotel: elegant contemporary design
  • Luxurious atmosphere
  • Friendly staff
  • Choice of multiple in-house restaurants
  • Excellent club lounge
  • Location in the most selective area of the city, with massive choice of restaurants, bars, trendy shops, art galleries. I would recommend Quintonil, with superb dégustation menu.
  • Very nice spa and fitness centre with impressice equipment
  • Great hotel's limousine driver who helped me to catch my flight despite late departure of the hotel and terrible traffic jams.

BAD
  • As you cannot change the language of cable channels, there is basically only one English speaking channel (HBO PLus) apart from news channels
  • Service is generally attentive and smiling. Still, I would have expected that bellboys will come with umbrellas and meet guests when arriving by cab under the rain, rather than speaking together and not giving assistance to the guests

- Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, indeed

The wretched things also switched on automatically when you turn over in bed .

They promised they'd reduce the sensitivity and the brightness. Hope they have.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, excellent stay.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Premier. Since all the suites were sold out I was given Club King and my rate was reduced to a deluxe room rate. The hotel was packed full, mostly with visitors from the Gulf region.

- How are the rooms?
Good quality. I was on a club floor so probably better than lower floors? Nice bathroom.

- How is the exec. lounge?
Very nice and large with a second floor and a small outdoor terrace on the 26th floor for smoking. Excellent service. With a child, you are welcome to enjoy happy hour down in the lobby bar where they laid out an embarrassingly huge spread of food for us. They had the usual set of wine and cocktails in the club and available for Club guests during happy hour in the lobby bar.

Breakfast is either in the club or downstairs. The restaurant had a great spread, but was almost completely full at 9am.

- What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
Nice pool area
Spa treatments are already relatively cheap, and AMB and RA's get a 35% reduction.
The concierge proactively suggests the low cost transport options instead of trying to up-sell.
3 pieces of laundry included per day for Club guests.
Up and coming neighborhood with the new St. Regis just opened and Four Seasons under construction.

BAD
Nothing.

- Value for MYR or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes. Great value.

I did not experience this issue (maybe because I sleep like a baby and was not able to see it )

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked: King Club Intercontinental Room
Received: King Premiere Suite

How are the rooms?
Great! Clean, relaxing, updated

How is the exec. lounge?
Staff was great. I only visited one evening during my stay. I thought the food was average. Drink selection was good too.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes, a lovely leather passport holder presented in a very nice large box

How was the minibar?
Bad, no liquor or wine. There were a few beers. No fresh juice.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Beautiful hotel with a great upgrade.

I was not sure of the hours of the club lounge and called "instant service" one night to see how late they serve breakfast. I was given the wrong information and arrived after breakfast was removed. The staff called the duty manager who arrived a few minutes later. With grace and professionalism, he asked what happened and it really showed that that he cared about the issue. He offered to provide breakfast room service which I thought was very fair of him.

-Bad
At check in the staff spoke very little to me. They didn't explain any of the amenities of the hotel. They didn't provide the club lounge hours or other amenities at all. I was not acknowledged as a RA.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Good value.

Would you return?[/QUOTE]
For sure, but I think next time I will try the InterContinental Chengdu Global Center which is nearby.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, mostly.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked: Standard Room
Received: Club Superior Room

How are the rooms?
Clean and modern, although the a/c doesn't really do much at all.

How is the exec. lounge?
Food is decent during the evening service, a little sparse at other times including breakfast. Great views and friendly staff.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
No.

How was the minibar?
Fully stocked that i could see with alcohol and soft drinks. There was also a bottle of wine on the side.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Clean and modern with great views. Very friendly and proactive staff throughout the hotel.

-Bad
A/C was next to useless in the room and the 'gym' is pathetic (two treadmills, two cross trainers and an exercise bike).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Reasonable.

Would you return?
I would, but only if the ANA Intercon was unavailable.

Seoul Grand Intercontinental Parnas

Seoul Grand Intercontinental Parnas

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Delighted!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Room on corporate rate and received a large Executive/Junior Suite with club access.

How are the rooms?
The rooms are beautifully furnished and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and I enjoyed two very restful nights sleep. The bathroom featured a toilet and bidet, bath tub and a shower. Linens were luxurious and nice to use. I loved the modern connections, including outlets for US AC plugs.

How is the exec. lounge?
The well appointed lounge is on the 26th floor. The staff were wonderful and escorted me to my table each visit. Although they advertise a "continental breakfast" there were several hot entrees and the staff cheerfully responded to requests for hard boiled eggs. Evening happy hour featured an array of decent wines and other alcoholic beverages, as well as hot and cold appetizers. You could easily make a meal of the club offerings.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
The gift was a small tote(shopping) bag. Somewhat odd for a gift, but pretty useful. The usual fruit and water were delivered, as well as a box of 4 decadent truffles!

How was the minibar?
It was stocked with a variety of beverages but no sparkling wine.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
-The service at this hotel was off the charts! It is a true 5 star experience, starting with the staff memorizing guest names - even if they haven't actually met you before. Frankly, this is the best service I've had at any IC hotel.
-The Metropolitan Health Club on the 3rd floor is a full service, well equipped gym and sauna. There are even workout shirts and shorts, so you don't have to pack gym gear. There is a shoe shine, barber, and full Korean sauna with pool.
-The location is perfect and right next to the City Airport Terminal. You can take the CALT bus from ICN directly to the CALT and walk next door via underground tunnel.
-Two major subway lines are within short walking distance from the hotel.

-Bad
Nothing

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Outstanding

Would you return?
Absolutely!

Note: There are two IC properties within a one block radius and both owned by the same company. I stayed several nights at the IC COEX, which is reviewed in a separate post.

Intercontinental COEX - Seoul

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
For the most part, Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room on an advance purchase rate and received a King Bed "River View" room.

How are the rooms?
The room was a basic sized standard hotel room. Other than the view, there was no discernible upgrade. However, the hotel was booked to capacity for the length of my stay. The room was relatively comfortable, although the bed was just ok. The bathroom featured a combination Toto toilet/Bidet and a shower. There were no AC outlets for a US plug, but Instant Service had an adapter quickly delivered.

How is the exec. lounge?
The Club Lounge is on the 2nd floor, with a view overlooking the front entrance. The staff were friendly and very service oriented. They remembered my name and food/beverage preference each day. Although advertised as a "continental breakfast" there were multiple hot and cold food offerings. Evening happy hour consisted of hot and cold appetizers, suitable to substitute for dinner. There were several Chilean red and white wines, as well as a Prosecco.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Can't remember, but I did get the usual fruit plate with water and a box of delicious truffles.

How was the minibar?
Well stocked with a variety of beverages. No sparkling wine in stock.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
-The COEX is located near two major subway lines and the COEX convention center. It is a specific stop on the Korean Airlines limousine bus from ICN.
-The gym is a modern, well stocked and roomy facility complete with a shoe shine, Korean Sauna, and a restaurant serving light snacks and sandwiches. It has enough equipment to ensure a great workout for anyone, and even offers shirts and workout shorts so you don't have to pack gym gear.
-Service at this hotel is top notch, and they quickly responded to any requests.
-It is connected to the COEX Mall, Casino and within walking distance of the City Airport Terminal.

-Bad
-Although not "bad" I was somewhat disappointed at the apparent lack of room upgrade. The hotel has that "convention" feeling and is not as exclusive as its sister property, the Grand Intercontinental Parnas.

Value for Priority Club points?
Excellent

Would you return?
Yes. Personally I prefer the Grand Parnas, which was reviewed in the previous thread. Still, this is a nice property and well worth a visit.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Couldn't have been better.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest with parking included, received Presidential Suite!

- How are the rooms?
Renovated a few years ago by Venus Williams company. Two floors, large boardroom, kitchen, media room, 3 bathrooms, 25' high windows with great views over the bay and ocean, massive TV in the main living room, etc.

-How is the mini-bar?
Better in this suite than a normal suite. It was actually just a well stocked fridge in the kitchen with a bunch of minis on the counter added. Lots of pre-mixed cocktails too.

- How is the exec. lounge?
Great service and decent enough food. Maybe second best in the US behind Boston. Nice crowd too. I met the manager of the IC Mexico City who was visiting with his wife.

- What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
Nothing more to say than Presidential Suite upgrade.

BAD
Nothing.

- Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Over all is YES, as always.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked the Deluxe Room Received Two Bedroom Premium Residence Suite Type A. Since Hotel was fully booked, this upgrade is not standard upgrade policy. This is my 2nd time experience of this room.

How are the rooms?
117sqm huge suite with small terrace. Two shower rooms, Specious kitchenette, Washing machine, Great mini-bar selections (Japanese Ume-shu plum liqueur, Miniature Macallan 12 years, demi bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne, and the House wine was the 3rd label of Chateau Haut Brion, of course full-bottle!)

Video of Two Bedroom Premium Residence Suite Type A:

How is the exec. lounge?
Still Keeping best F&B services in Japanese InterContinental. Great Liquor selections in the cocktail time. But I don't like a la carte menu style in breakfast and Cocktail time. Coz multiple or a second order is not accepted.

Champagne is offered in cocktail time only. All other times offer is Prosecco.

What was your welcome gift?
Full bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne (Coz I'm bi-weekly regular guest), TWG Hotel original blend Tea Box, Pickles of Japanese Plum, UMEBOSHI.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes

What was good?
Great Fitness room, SPA, and good quality of bath amenities, and Excellent Bar Adee.

What was bad?
Club Lounge new food presentation don't accept multiple or a second order from a la carte menu (and portion is too small!). Prosecco quality is horrible .

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, great stay.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
4 nights booked by 3 separated reservations. 1st night was Reward Night, 2nd night was cheapest One King Bed Deluxe Room by IHG Rewards Club Member Advance Purchase Rate, 3rd and 4th nights were Royal Suite. 1 day before check-in, system indicated to upgrade Club InterContinental One Bedroom Suite for both 1st and 2nd nights. 3rd and 4th nights were same to original booking. Upon Check-in, received Royal Suite for entire 4 nights of stay.

How are the rooms?
246sqm Huge and contemporary elegant suite. Huge dining and lounge space, bedroom is simple but well appointed, bathroom is very specious. Probably most specious bathroom I have ever experienced. Twin shower head shower booth, steam sauna, bathtub with great view, and all toiletries are Asprey. Huge walk-in closets, well appointed kitchenette.

Video of Royal Suite:

How was the minibar?
Indeed alcoholic beverages selections were nothing special. I understand here is Arabian country. Soft drink selections were excellent. No complaints.

How is the Club Lounge?
Yes, granted for entire of 4 nights stay. Before I visit here, I heard excellent reputation of food and beverage performance. However, my experience was very small selection and so-so quality of food and some better selection of beverage. (Champagne was Moët) Not exceeded my expectation. Honestly saying, Unterwegs' comment about this club lounge seems to be just said the least. And they didn't provide any information letter about Club Lounge operations and Club benefits.

What was your welcome gift?
Welcome Drink Voucher only.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes

What was good?
++++++++++ Royal Suite
++++++++++ upgrade for first 2 nights included Reward Night
+++++ Reflets par Pierre Gagnaire Restaurant

Didn't receive any information letter about Club Lounge operations and Club benefits.

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points?
Yes

Would you return?
Definitely.
