Has anyone had luck using their Chase certificate for the Palazzo? It said when I booked that the reservation was "FREE" but I've read conflicting things that that hotel will not accept it.

If you use this scheme, make sure the hotel doesn't combine your reservations.

One reservation agent even told me that switching between the Venetian and the Palazzo (to obtain separate RA $100 minibar credit) wouldn't work as they still considered that one stay.

$25 resort fee ($28 including tax) was no longer optional. Was told policy was changed sometime in August. However, it can be waived by your casino host if you gamble enough.
This place sounds less appealing all the time. Resort fee, only 2000 points, limited or no lounge access, apparently uninspiring Ambassador upgrades... I'm rethinking my plans to stay there in June.

This is true. I did not even get a room upgrade at the Palazzo as it had already applied to the first Venetian stay. You would not get anything for the second stay including a bottle of water.

I stayed at both hotels in the same week (Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons in between) and had no problem with minibar and (very generous) upgrade for both stays (the point is that I drink only softdrinks).

Used the free certificate without issue. I was "upgraded" to the 42nd floor with TI view being platinum. They also opted me out of the resort fee, which was nice of them. Very impressed with the room and hotel. Nicest place i've ever stayed at

How did you opt out of the resort fee? I tried about a week ago and they were firm.

The front desk associate was very nice and very thorough. Now it might have been that I consumed a 12 pack of beers the night before, but it seemed like he was talking for ever! Just wanted to go back to the room and rest.

Anyways...back to your question..after they pulled my reservation, they had me sign an "e-pad" with the charges. At that time I saw the $25 resort fee and kindly asked him if I could opt out as I would not be using the internet, gym, etc. He asked me to confirm that I would not be using these services and that I would have to pay full price for these, and I acknowledged that.

So, a free room was truly free! I've always wanted to stay at a luxury resort in vegas but I'm too cheap to do so.

Funny availablity going on here.

For my dates, 7-12 nov, hotel is showing zero availability, but is offering reward nights ?

Now that just seems totally wrong, if the hotel is full for some massive convention or whatever, they should be selling those last reward rooms for megabucks.

Even taking out the weekend, only 1 room type is available for midweek, but still reward nights are open ?

Mid week the week before, 1 room type available for cash
mid week the week before that, no room types available ?

tried a couple of browsers

Interestingly, every single room type is available on the palazzo's own website at reasonable rates, for the nights I want.

I used my free night here last weekend and was upgraded (as a Platinum) to a 22nd floor room with a view of the Strip. They also let me check in very early (before 10:00am) and gave me a 2:00pm checkout. However, they did not waive the resort fee. I didn't ask, though, so who knows -- I didn't use any of the services and had no plans to, so I should have asked. I'm not complaining, though. It was an absolutely gorgeous room and hotel, with impeccable service from everyone. The front desk was outstanding. I will go back. ^

Is that the week of the Automotive After Market convention? That one is HUGE.

I'm staying here on a reward night next month.
I lost Plat this year and am just Gold now, so don't expect much in the way of upgrades.

Anyone tried a twenty dollar sandwich on a rewards night?

YMMV but I don't think it's worth it. The standard room is already very nice. The next level upgrade would give you a strip view which isn't anything special (I did stay in a strip view). You probably can get one by just asking. The next level is the fortuna suite that is very similar to the standard suite.

Personally if I want an upgrade at this hotel, it has to be to a sienna suite (where you have a separate bedroom + extra bedroom) or to prestige level. I don't think there is much chance that a $20 sandwich would land you those suites.
