IC Frankfurt
Hi Folks,
Here's a link to a post I made about my stay at the InterContinental Frankfurt. Overall it was a pretty mediocre stay. The room upgrade wasn't all that great, and the hotel was pretty tired looking, but it was still a decent value as a Royal Ambassador. In retrospect I realize I should have asked for club access, which they seem to give on demand.

Indeed, the word is mediocre. Just checked-out of this hotel. Yes we had a room in the 20th floor overlooking the river and the city, but the property is in need of some serious renovations. Tired rooms, tired public areas, which really are hard to overlook despite the good service and nice location. The buffet breakfast is indeed great, and the service in general is good, but now that we've moved to a nearby hotel, Movenpick for an early departure, I would actually say that the latter's newer, modern rooms, with much more genuine service and free wireless, might easily push me to pass on the Intercontinental next time.

The InterConti is extraordinary good value for money. I pay something in the range of 140 Euro for a superior room, which always gives me an upgrade to a full suite.
Just a few things to remember:
- the standard RA upgrade is two category
- suites have two minibars
- lounge is included for RAs, just go up there

I have such inconsistent experiences here but the one consistency is I am never told I can have Club access even if I am not upgraded to a Club level room as an RA with a basic standard res. Stayed there last night (needed to get away to some reclusion after the intensive MegaDo!) and did get a larger room but no mention of Club access until I asked and it was granted (though they never asked for my room number at the Club). There is free wifi in the Club -- the receptionist will give you a code -- but the signal does not reach below into many rooms. There is wired internet, but apparently the free access for Ambassadors ended at the end of October. However, having been given the code to use in the lounge, I then figured it must also work on the wired connection as it was the same portal, and it did...so I had free internet in my room as well. Agree its showing its age, but the location to the RR station is easy for walking, and the rates outside trade show periods makes it a bargain (if you have RA benefits .)
