Cheapest way to get 5000 reward points from zero?
Hi,
I have just signed up for priority club, after knowing about point break and the the 70USD for 10000 points stuff.
However, I need to get the initial 5000 reward points before I can buy the 10000 points with 70 USD. Is there anyway I can get this 5000 reward points in a cheaper way compared to purchasing points directly from priority club website?
Ebay? Other way to earn points? Thanks.

When you join Ambassador, you get a 5000 point voucher in the form of an evoucher to enter online. You may get the odd one sold on ebay although none there at present.
Alternatively, an Amex MR transfer can still be done until the end of June.
When you have enough posts and enough registered time on FT, you will have access to Coupon Connection where you can trade stuff like this with other members.

If you pay for a stay at a PC property you can get thousands of bonus points by signing up for all the offers here:

A couple of weeks ago I stayed four nights at a Candlewood and came away with over 12K points.

As far as I know, transfers of points from American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards are the quickest ways. You should get points transferred almost instantly. The only drawback is that these transfers are not good ways to utilize points. Moreover, transfers from Amex MR will no longer be available from 1 July 2012.
If you have no such account, you have to buy points directly.

Coke points and Foursquare count for about 5,000 of my points YTD. Total cash outlay is $0 but time is a different story. This would also be limited to US residents I beleive.

Thanks for the information, that's a great idea since I'm not rushing to start booking IHG hotels...I tried and I saw the points on my topguest account, but it doesn't appear on my priority club account...How long usually does it take to appear on my PC account? Thanks.

Here's a link to a post, with a link to an e-mail, that provides 1000 points instantly. Follow the directions, watch the video, see 1000 points in your PC account.
