Omaha to Chicago?
Have set dates of leave Oct. 15th and coming back the 18th. Have points in many different airlines but been looking for a couple months and the points to fly have been around 50000 except Southwest but didn't want to us those points. Have 468 dollars of credit on United and a 100 on Delta. Have 50000 Citi thank you points that would cover the trip. One of the closest trip which has been I of the hardest to book. Hate to waste so many points on such a short flight. Thanks for any ideas.

You could use the voucher on one ticket and use Citi's travel portal for the other. With the Citi Prestige card I'm showing 18,231 points for AA and 27,646 for UA on those days. If you have specific times in mind that might change the totals.

Have you found two "SAAver" award seats on AA's OMA-ORD and ORD-OMA nonstops? If so, then although AA would charge you 50,000 miles for those two roundtrips, the same flights would only cost 18,000 BA Avios. Do you have any Avios, or other points that can convert to Avios (Amex MR, Chase UR, or Starwood)?

Then pay cash. Or put in a bid on Priceline.

You would only need 18,000 UR points for the two roundtrips, if SAAver seats were available on AA. Unfortunately, it appears that they are not -- at least, not at the moment.

Unfortunately frequent flyer miles are least useful when you HAVE to travel on certain fixed dates.
