FF Program That Lets you Transit in Other Regions?

Are there currently any FF programs that let you transit in other regions? For Example going from the USA-Middle East (connection)- Europe (final destination) on a one way basis? For the price of just USA-Europe. I know US Airways let people do that. Are there any others?

Do you mean an award from FF program that let you transit a 3rd region when going in between 2 regions, without paying for the 3rd region?

Not all ff programs have "regions" for awards. Many are just simple distance based

Most FF programs allow some routing through different regions, but it depends on the origin and destination, and what routing you want to do. US-EUR-Middle East or US-Middle East-East Asia are almost always allowed. "Backtracking" as you suggest (US-EUR via middle east, for example) is less common.

as there are dozens of programs, and dozens of possible routings, i think more specific question or searching "routing rules" might be a good idea.

American Airlines has very severe restrictions on connecting in third regions.

Not in all cases, as explained here. My guess is there was a restriction on a particular routing you wanted to do. Again, generalizations don't do very much here.

Ask in the forums for those airlines. Or use the search feature for routing rules.
Also look at the link in my previous post. It answers your question for AA.

AA awards between North America and Europe do not permit routing via any third zone.

Right. Which is why I linked to a list of the rules for AA.
