AIR INDIA SFO-BOM Customs + Baggage ?

Hello,

I am flying from SFO-DEL AI 174 and the connecting to AI102 DEL-BOM with 1 Hour 5 minute connection time. My question is, do I clear customs in DEL or BOM? The other question is I am flying business class all the way and the baggage allowance shows on AI website as 2 piece 32KG and United shows 2 piece 23 kg. I dont know which one to believe? I booked award ticket through United. Thanks Your feedback would be really appreciated.

As Keyser said its 2 pcs with 32kg each and your immigration/customs would be at BOM also luggage checked all the way to BOM with only an A/C change in DEL - you would be handed your DEL-BOM BP in SFO itself - you just need to get through the transit security in DEL which is pretty straight forward!

I think i miss a crucial piece of information but my final destination would be Indore ( IDR ). Do you think IDR might play a role in United show 2 x 23 kgs.
Its still all business class.

I think you should verify the customs detail. General convention is to clear customs at the first port of call which would be DEL if you are on the way to BOM. You will have to collect your luggage and then put it back in usually. 1 hr might be a tough ask in T3

Is the BOM-IDR segment on the same ticket? Also why didn't you just book a DEL-IDR connection?

Rather an old thread - But still as OP has mentioned above he is connecting INT-INT in DEL (AI 174 to AI102 which is JFK to BOM) so his customs/immi would be at BOM and not at DEL - it would only be a transit at DEL! And J passengers usually are escorted through by AI staff upon exiting A/C to AI102 so no issues wd 1 hour connection - have done it before!
