not surprising at all....i think ai would be the last choice for most job applicants....

It all depends on urgency and the need. Given that DGCA has a 6 months cool off/notice stipulation its very rare to see walk-ins like this unless some airline is going belly up and you have lots of people available. Still without proper publicity any such event was bound to fail. AI as such also hasn't had the best publicity to pull in the sources that is desperately needs.

Its okay to travel with them but how they have been accepted by star alliance is a joke

Regardless of airline, I am not sure that pilots having as much experience as needed to be captains will be giving "walk in" interviews ?
