very true....it wouldn't make sense to have a nonstop to london from these locations....i don't think they would have enough traffic....

Lol STV/Surat has 3-4 flights a day and is purely domestic, with AI and SG flights. A 7400ft RWY will probably not allow anything larger than a A32S or B37G to lift off

Long way for that to happen. Dubai might still happen soon. Surat is between 2 International Airports. i.e. Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Very difficult to get the airlines to start flights from surat as well.
This was the basic reason why the domestic airport opened so late. Most of the people in Surat were used to going to Mumbai for international flights or just take trains to their destinations.

They are in talks for extensions. But yes the airport is not at all international flights friendly.

I seriously doubt STV will get an international section, as it requires significant expansion and modification of the existing building. If you look at tenders issued this year by AAI for STV, it doesn't look like they have any plans to that effect:

First of all they need to improve AMD airport or develop Dholera from scratch.
as AllAboutFlying mentioned ,
Not sure surat need one for DXB or any other international connection, as it is well connected by road/rail either BOM or AMD .
