Interesting? This is good news. I was disappointed with Air Asia India's 'focus south' policy. This will be much needed competition to 9W, IF it happens!

What on earth?
If true, and if it does happen, then Fibga and Taxpayer beware.
Oh and what's the chance of them flying the plane from BOM to DEL as TataAirAsia and then bringing it back as TataSQ (ceteris paribus, except the fare) ?

It is a 100MM$ investment for now. Not a whole of money to launch an airline... perhaps a few leased jets at best....

I love how 'experts' deconstruct themselves within a few sentences:
“I don’t understand the logic of working with two airlines simultaneously,” said aerospace journalist Hormuz P. Mama. “It seems peculiar to work with AirAsia and Singapore Airlines as both will compete each other irrespective of low-fare and full-service business models.”

“We have no clarity on the issue of new airline licences. Overall, government policies have always raised entry risks for serious players,” Kaul said. “We operate in a policy and regulatory vacuum. However, Tatas may have discussed this project at the highest levels in the government.”

minus liabilities = just the planes, routes / fifth freedom rights etc. and the commanders - still the most experienced anywhere in the industry. auntyji FAs, desk staffers etc etc .. forget them all.

Nice idea: like the bad bank/GM concept: park all the undesirable stuff in a empty shell without purpose and privatise the rest. Ähh... keep dreaming.
