The only Ukrainian airspace that had been closed since the start of the conflict was the area over and around Crimea; this was, however, more due to the fact that, because it was claimed by two sovereign states, it was not clear which ATC (Ukrainian or Russian) actually had control of the area.
The airspace over Eastern Ukraine was closed up to an altitude of 32,000 feet. Neither Jet, nor Air India, nor any other airline, had been flying in any restricted areas.
