Non-Stop to India from Toronto?

I see that at one point there were no such flights, then press reports indicate that at another subsequent point there were such flights, but what is the situation now? Are there any non-stop flights from Toronto to Delhi or Mumbai?

ULH flights like that are possible with AIs 77L fleet, but make very little commercial sense unless there is reasonable traffic. Hence AI is just operating to ORD and JFK with nonstops today. They just sold a substantial part of their 77L fleet. UA also operates EWR-BOM and EWR-DEL. AA discontinued the ORD-DEL flight claiming heavy losses.

The issue with the YYZ - (North) India segment is the fact that its mostly VFR traffic that predominantly selects the cheapest tickets, irrespective of the halts / carrier. AI managed to fill seats without doubt, but at times, the yeilds were unable to cover operational costs.

AC used to operate a 763 to India till summer 2007, probably with a stop.

4 years later they explored if sending a 77L to India would make sense:

Obviously it didn't make sense.

Correct. IIRC, they usually made it one way non-stop, but needed a return fuel stop which was typically at ARN.

AC most definitely flew non-stop YYZ-DEL. I flew on that flight twice. After the non stop ended they flew one stop, via ZRH I believe, before canceling all together.

Many years back I remember seeing an Air Canada A340-300 in DEL- back then I thought it must have been a VVIP charter.

Can the A340-300 fly a full commercial load non-stop YYZ-DEL?

YYZ-DEL is about 7250 Miles, 343 could make it with very little cargo. AC used to have 345s but I don't think they used them to India.

The 345s were used for flights to HKG and the occasional sub into DEL. The 343 used to fly YYZ-DEL nonstop

Non-Stop to India from Toronto?

Chiro is correct. In the mid 2000s, AC ran YYZ-DEL nonstop using A340s. They then moved to the route via ZRH running 767s and then killed the flight. Only other nonstop ex YYZ was AI, which ran nonstop 77L service for a bit until abruptly stopped about 3 years ago.

As i mentioned earlier, AI operated to YYZ with 77W not 77L. Routing was ATQ-DEL-YYZ and vv.
