Tried it 6 months back and as per ITA EY flight had YQ on it but EK did not. Got quotes on both and went with EK as no YQ even though I prefer EY.

EK's YQ charges are quite steep on award tickets. I recently tried to make use of about 65K miles that were due to expire. Redeeming on a return-Y ticket from India - Europe would cost Rs.27K in surcharges and taxes. This is way too expensive than other carriers. Besides, saver awards are very hard to find even if you are willing to book a year ahead. Only two years ago (before their partnership with QF which spoiled Skywards program), I had redeemed on India-Brazil sector right during Carnival season. At that time, fee I paid was about Rs.4.5K! Go figure..
I do not think EK will let partners to pay any less than what they themselves are charging.
